If you have at least 6 with an auto bid for P5 Champs, your go-to response to whining fans can simply be “go win your conference”. If there’s automatic bids, the conference schedule is essentially pool play or the group stage of the playoff.

But then you might get a year where we suck and Iowa goes 8-4 with a 7-2 B10 record against a weak West, and win an ugly 24-21 game over 12-0 Ohio State and have Iowa in the playoffs, playing for a national championship after essentially having a nothing regular season. Happens in pro sports a lot, I guess, but still.

I would rather an 8-4 Iowa team sneak in than a team like TCU in 2014 getting left out. I still think TCU deserved a shot to win the championship that year and I think they had a decent shot too.
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

We won the SB as a 6 seed, and lost our first playoff game as the 15-1 reigning champs. Any one-and-done playoff system is going to have it’s quirks and allow a “hot” team to go on a run.

It keeps every fan base in it as well instead of playing for some random bowl game when you have 2 losses.

If Miami loses, I think it gives Bucky a little extra spark tomorrow knowing if that win they are Top 4 headed into the B10 Title Game.

We're 100% in if we win out assuming Pitt can hold a three score lead with 2:44 left.

Miami goes down. Pretty much ensures that the loser of the ACC title game will be knocked out of the CFP.

Hopefully Alabama and Clemson lose. Would pilut Oklahoma at one and badgers at two.

Let’s not assume we will win tomorrow. Minny outplayed us last year until Leidner remembered he was Mitch Leidner.

I'd rather have Alabama win out so they can knock out Georgia and Auburn.

I would too, easily.

If things break certain ways we could be looking at a situation where a close loss in the Big 10 championship still keeps Wisconsin in the top 4. A one loss vs a great OSU team, vs two losses from Auburn and Georgia, two losses from the ACC loser, two loss Notre Dame, OSU, PSU, USC and TCU.

OSU would jump them I bet. The committee doesnt respect UW at all. they need to win out at this point. Maybe if they had one more quality win.

My point was other teams have given the Badgers an opening. Before today I would have said a one loss Badgers team didn't have a chance. But the margins (four teams) is so thin that a close loss would give the committee something to seriously consider.
