officially in slump, but....

Post#1 » by #1TKfan » Thu Aug 9, 2007 3:08 pm

the cubs have hit a speed bump and got bit by the injury bug. now aram is going back to chicago to see a hand specialist. id be lying if i said i wasnt worried. but at the same time im kinda relieved. i strongly believe in momentum of the season. i believe every team goes through a bad stretch. either slumping or plagued w/ injuries. im glad its hitting us now. ESPECIALLY since the brewers are playing bad also. better now than in Oct. i believe by oct. the cubs will be playing full throttle and ready to make a push. same thing could be said about the brewers but they are young and inexperienced and could easily falter.
the cubs have shown what they are capable of and how good they can be.
they are slumping right now, but its good to get it out of the way. its hard to be patient ,i know, but i think this years cubs will surprise us.

im very optimistic about this years club. (just as long jockstrap jones never bats 2nd again. and where ever floyd hits, de rosa should bat before him.)

the optimistic one. thats my new band name.

Um...yeah, I can't put a positive spin on A-Ram seeing a hand specialist. We now have no one who can freakin hit a HR.

floyd, de rosa, lee, jones, and ward (who is coming back soon) all can hit the long ball. they are just not doing it right now. you just dont lose capability. they will get it back.

nothing is positive right now. dont get me wrong. things are bad, but it doesnt mean we have to press the panic button also.

We need a true 3rd baseman as a backup for A-Ram.

Yeah, you can lose to ability to hit the long ball. Cliff's 34 now, his power has officially declined. Floyd is now obviously out of his prime, he just doesn't have the bat speed to do it anymore.

Lee has never looked the same since his wrist injury, he's not going to be a big power threat.

Ward's hit 20 once, and hasn't hit a single one this year.

Jones is just terrible obviously, he's shown no signs of breaking out of his yearlong power slump.

DeRosa's career high is 13, in a big hitters park.

I'm not saying these guys will never hit them, but you shouldn't expect many.

ironically i'm gonna have to agree with you... better now than later.. hopefully this is a slump we'll get out of.. but you have to worry about how we're playing right now.

wouldnt it be funny if we sweep the hot rockies after losing to the lowly astros?

of course, we still have to be concerned. i dont like how derek is batting. it appears he is not seeing the ball well.
and this whole team, NEEDS TO STOP SWINGING AT THE 1ST PITCH!

patience, my friends. looks kinda grim now, but we will be fine. aramis should be back against the series w/ the lowly reds.

the brew crew has to face the red hot cardinals. i smell a leap.

Return to Chicago Cubs
