I'm not expecting great QB play.

Alright, well I mean it's not like I'm satisfied when Coan plays like **** in a tough environment or Hornibrook is OK with several terrible throws mixed in but it's probably not a referendum on the coach.

Hopefully holes are plugged/development from the defense next year (should be interesting losing some key guys) and Hornibrook is back to 2017 Hornibrook or Mertz is ready to go. They'll be a really good team again soon enough.

Does 2017 Horni help? If Mertz is willing to redshirt then sure. But if he is even remotely close to Horni I would go with Mertz. But they never do that.

2012 with BB was the last Big10 Ship. Thats our goal and I don't see Horni doing that.

That team was arguably the worst team we've had in the past decade including this year. 2008 was the only other obvious choice.

Ah, 2012. We won the B10 championship unranked. O$U and PSU were both ineligible for post season play. That was the disastrous DOB vs. Stave vs. Phillips season, so it's funny to compare it to this season. That season we mostly just happenstanced into the title.

Nostalgia is incredible for UW sports. It's basically the same 5-year cycles repeating over and over, yet improving slightly each time. But every year that is somewhat below expectations, we forget that this happens every **** time and equally **** seasons are propped up just because they were in the past.

If Mertz could simply be a game manager his freshman year I would be happy.
1) Be able to hit a wide open receiver
2) Don’t throw awful picks
3) Don’t panic in the pocket when your first option isn’t open
4) Throw it away instead of taking a stupid sack

Sadly that will be better than our current state of QB play.

All I said was our last B10 ship was 2012. There was no comparison being completed.

Maybe add 1 more...I don't know what his athleticism is like. But I sure hope he can move in the pocket and have some ability to actually run.

That would fall under 3 for me. Not pulling a Hundley and running out of the pocket if the first read isn’t there.

That’s ok. I’m comparing it because it was pretty perfect to bring up.
