Hayward was a case were it's tough for me to really blame anyone for letting him walk. He was very injury prone in his time here and the year before he left he had lost his starting spot to one rookie and had been losing pt in the slot to a second rookie.Kerb Hohl wrote:humanrefutation wrote:I think there are two guys I regret us losing: Casey Hayward and Jared Cook. Hyde is borderline, too.
Everyone else recently seems to be a non-factor elsewhere.
And in Hayward’s case it was not age/injury related like these other guys. They thought they had 3-4 other good corners and just couldn’t afford to pay what they thought was their slot guy (big mistake and error in judgment, of course). Hyde is kinda the same.
Rest of the guys were age/performance and they’ve been mostly right.
In 95% of scenarios where that's the case letting a guy walk is the right call.
