The Packers are a "good" team. A good regular-season team, but not one built to go deep into the playoffs. The offense is good enough to beat most opponents - if the offense is hitting on all cylinders. If the offense is sputtering, there's trouble. The defense is good enough to stop weaker teams and good teams with limited running games. They've got trouble against any team with a good running game and a passable defense (most real playoffs teams).

Early on, I dismissed the Bears as division contenders. I'm not so sure now. IF the Packers do supplant the Bears by regular season end, how do they stack up against the likely other NFC playoff candidates? (Even discounting the NFC East mess).

Tampa is obviously an issue and possibly the Rams. Of the other projected NFC playoff teams, I feel it's a toss up.

Isn't that the same thing that was said last year when they made the NFCCG and isn't this pretty much the same team?

What does "built to go deep in the playoffs" even mean? Were the Ravens just content to go 14-2 last season then get annihilated in the divisional round, because they weren't "built for the postseason" or something?

I've often wondered that. I've seen teams have units with holes that people would readily say arent capable of winning in the postseason win a SB and ive seen juggernauts go one n done.

I don't have confidence this Packer team beats whoever emerges from Seattle, Rams, Niners, New Orleans, Tampa. I think they may need to sweep the Bears to keep the Division too. I hope I'm wrong and I'll happily eat crow if I am.

Oh they could absolutely lose to any of those teams. But a counter would be they already beat the Saints, Seattle is good but their D is as bad as the Packers, Rams are good but did just get housed by the Dolphins, 49ers have so many injuries they will be hard pressed to make the playoffs. Bucs are obviously tough but Brady is 100 and there's a lot of season left.

My point is the NFC as of now doesn't really look super duper unbeatable at the top. Good teams but teams capable of losing. Now if the Pack were in the AFC with KC Pitts, ect then yeah I'd say they were dead.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Good points.

Also, we'll all have to see how the injury bug plays out for everyone - seems to be too many high profile injuries this season. I hope my pessimism is wrong.
