No RB's, no WR's, meh OL, and a rookie QB. It's pretty bad. The best offensive weapon is a move the chains TE

Berger averaged 5.8 on 15 carries. If they stop messing around with these fullback runs that lose momentum, they could be better.

'07 skill positions: Swan, Hubbard, Graham, Hill
'14: Erickson, Doe, Arneson, Gordon
'15: Erickson, Wheelwright/Peavy, Fumagalli, Dare

Those are worse than Pryor, Dike, Ferguson, Berger. Didn't have this futility over a 2-game period.

The OL's are fine. Remember they were perceived as a liability when DOB was QB. They switched, and all of a sudden it was fine. Some went on to great careers. Mertz has time usually, but panic throws, except for out of bounds. Doesn't protect the ball.

Fitting that we finally get an actual blue-chip QB prospect only to have the rest of the offense be an absolute dumpster fire devoid of talent at the skill positions. Life as a Badgers fan.

The OL/running game will eventually be fine for Mertz next year. Berger needs to put on some weight but he's good and either a freshman, grad transfer, or just Watson developing more to be competent will probably be satisfactory. The line won't be bad.

As for WR/TE, Dike and Ferguson are fine. I doubt Davis or Pryor are back but maybe? Regardless, I saw they were in contact with a pretty good transfer from I think Montana at WR. They could probably talk a talented player in that sort of situation into stepping in here.

I do think some of this is on Mertz, though. He's missing a fair amount of throws and the decision-making isn't great yet.

The running game is obviously not what it was with Taylor or Gordon, but we've had **** groups like this before and have struggled but arguably not this much as Bern said...so you have to put some of that on Mertz or I guess playcalling.
