12 1/2 sacks and 4 forced fumbles is average?
Clown post from you defending Gute, as usual.

Gute signed him!
But yes, he was average. PFF grade in 2019: 90.2. Last season it was 76.7.
From SI.com:
The play-to-play impact diminished sharply, though. In 2019, he tied for the NFL lead with 37 quarterback hits, according to the official league stats. By ProFootballFocus.com’s count, he led the NFL with 93 quarterback pressures – the most by any edge defender since Khalil Mack had 96 for the Raiders in 2016. PFF’s pass-rushing productivity metric measures sacks, hits and hurries per pass-rushing snap. Of 112 edge defenders with at least 140 rushes, he ranked No. 1.
In 2020, he ranked 10th with 23 quarterback hits, according to the league stats. At PFF, he was tied for 17th with 51 pressures and tied for 46th in its pass-rushing productivity.
But yea, between his age, contract, and declining play the Packers definitely should have offered an extension. Makes all the sense in the world.

Dude was a defensive mvp level player in 2019, playing next to a garbage defensive line. He definitely declined in 2020, was hard not to. I’d even agree he was average for a stretch of games. But he still was 4th in the league in sacks and 2nd in forced fumbles. He was easily our 2nd best player on D, behind Jaire.
As usual you can’t see Gute has alienated another star player on our team. That makes 3 of the top 5 by my count.
I’m not saying give him a big extension. I would expect a normal GM figure things out by effectively communicating though, something Gute clearly has no idea how to.
I’m curious who’s going to play on our defensive line next year? Besides Gary & Kenny we won’t have an even average player on the team. Hey, maybe the illustrious Joe Barry can fix things.

This is where you're mistaken. It's not that I can't see Gute may or may not be alienating certain players. It's that I really don't care.
I never liked that Rodgers wanted to renegotiate after his MVP season, but he was fine with his record setting deal and then had a below average season (for him).
I don't think it's a good idea to pay Adams $28 million a year on a team that's going to be bad.
I think Smith asking for more money is laughable. He got three sacks, four tackles for loss, and five of his QB hits last season against the Falcons. In the four losses he had a combined zero sacks, two tackles for loss, and four QB hits. GTFOH with his ****. If he's injured, and I think he is, then that's one thing. If he's putting up a stink over his contract, he's only shooting himself in the dick.
If Jaire or Jenkins decide to force themselves out, I'll have a problem with how Gute's doing business.

Re: Lions Leadup (MNF)
Zadarius is a force. He's not a Watt or a Donald, but he's a very good pass rusher and playmaker defensively. He plays all over the line. He can bring pressure from anywhere. I know he wasn't as good in 2020. But he was still a quality pass rusher.
But even if he comes back healthy from this IR stint, he'll have to show that he can still perform at a high level for me to want to extend him. The truth is, there are a lot of big contracts on the horizon for the Packers. They won't be able to pay everyone. ZDS isn't the top priority. Depending on what they project with guys like Adams, Jaire, Jenkins, Savage, Gary etc, they might not be able to afford him.

Re: Lions Leadup (MNF)
Adams will be 29 in December. As cool a guy as he is, WR's rarely cheat father time. As expected, the current hangup is guaranteed money on the back end of a potential deal. If the Packers give in, they could be throwing away $50 million if Adams falls off as WR's usually do. Smith is 29 and I don't think the Packers ever intended on a 2nd deal for him. Tough situations for both, but the Packers rarely take chances when players reach 30. And the line in the sand at those 2 positions as far as production drop off is pretty clear. Smith was already showing signs of breaking down last year. It doesn't get better from here, only worse. Bulaga and his back just got put on IR again.

Deguara can't catch a break, but at least in his case, there's depth there.
Savage and Patrick are more concerning.
