There was one drive where you could say that. The one that put them up 24-13. Every other drive by Notre Dame in the 2nd half was either a punt, a turnover or a drive that started in field goal range because of a Mertz turnover.

Was a pretty big drive.

I mean, I guess. The drive already started pretty close to FG range which would've meant the offense needed to score another TD, which is the real problem here and it comes from the story you just posted. Wisconsin has scored 13, 10, 7, 6 and 7 points against ranked opponents with Mertz at QB and he's had 2 TDs, 11 INTs and 5 lost fumbles in those games.

Yea, the offense is garbage. In all facets.

I am known as “the Wisconsin Way defender” probably on here. I’ve defended other lulls they’ve had knowing they’ll turn it around and I will be happy with 9-3 til the day I die. I know Wisconsin should still run the ball a lot.

All of that said, they need someone new to run the offense. Leonhard at HC, get some fresh blood to coach the offense. The game has passed Paul by…and even though we should be happy he snagged a high 4 star QB…the reality is the high point of QB from a supposed QB whisperer is maybe Coan 2019?

I’m not asking them to run the spread because I know that is just asking to be an extremely watered down Ohio State…but just get a SOMEWHAT mobile QB so you have another card up your sleeve if you can’t throw or power run. It’s 2021.

Not sure what scheme you can run with this talent.
QB - trash. RB - Meh. WR - Meh. OL - Meh.

How can a QB who was 20-21 in his first start become such an abysmal player?

Just wondering what the **** you were watching. The defense gave up less than 250 yards and after Wisconsin took a 13-10 lead the defense gave up 50 yards on 13 plays.

And they only gave up 3 yards rushing, and had 6 sacks.

100% agree*. It’s crazy that the better we recruit, the worse the offense looks.

*Outside of the high point being Tolzien’s senior year. Probably the only “really good” QB year one of Chryst’s guys has ever turned in. Note: I don’t count Wilson as one of Chryst’s guys. He was on campus for like a month before the season started. He was a great QB walking into a super talented offense.

Didn’t Tanner McEvoy complete like 20 in a row in his first or second start?
