I wanted gilmore, but at 7 mil coming off a torn quad (i think) is a risk. He wouldnt be ready for another few weeks. with that cap hit of 7 mil it'd be tough... But if he was waived and the packers didn't claim or make any type of effort then i'd be pissed.

Question - could the packers have offered King + a 4th so the pats absorb some of king's deal and packers can fit in gilmore? I wonder if they tried that.

Jaylon smith - is he a pass rusher? packers need LB depth so its worth a good look.

I didn't love the king signing simply because he reminds me of that stupid NFCC game every time I see him. Although I would argue prior to getting hurt last year he was about a league average CB (people tend to underestimate how thin CB and OL are across the league).

But had it not been king I have to think they would have spent that 4 mil on some other vet CB so I doubt the Gilmore thing would have happened anyway. It's pretty obvious they didn't love their depth at CB since pretty much all the back end of that group from last year has been replaced.

One of the primary motivations for the Pats moving Gilmore was so they could sign Jamie Collins.

Everything I'm reading is that Smith has not been good this year and the Cowboys are paying him like $7 million not to be on their team anymore but idk, maybe a change of scenery sparks something.
