Didn't he have more than one blocking whiff?

Idk if this is what you’re thinking of, but we ran that same screen earlier to a different WR with Lazard blocking and CIN blew that one up too.

I watched the game on TV, with the radio for audio. I know Lazard muffed at least one block, but (IIRC)McCarren mentioned ESB blocking less than uesfully more than once - though I can't cite specific plays

Thought the play-calling was a little suspect in this one. MLF tried to get too cute with the hitch screens and misdirection, the little shovel pass to Dillon being a prime example. Just hand the ball off to your 250 lb RB and let him road grate some poor defenders. Even with the missed FG's we should have scored more than 25 points through 60+ minutes. Seems like our best offense this game was just letting Rodgers drop out of shotgun and let him and Adams pick apart their secondary.

All in all though, it's always great to rack up wins early in the schedule even in the face of injuries to multiple key guys. Bank these, get healthy, and start playing your best football down the stretch. Defense and Barry deserves some credit for how they've held and managed to generate a consistent pass rush.

Towards the end every run straight up the middle was stuffed. When you are down 3/5ths of your offensive line that tends to happen. Didn't mind the efforts at all.

Joe Burrow was checked out for a throat contusion.....Florio from PFT continued to emphasize on his site and during NBC's broadcast last night that a Packer "poked him in the throat and caused damage."

Come to find out the problem was Burrow was having a hard time speaking after the game. Well yeah....concussions can cause aphasia....they can also cause the QB to throw the ball directly to the ILB with no WR near the ball. Don't blame GB, blame Cincy for putting him back on the field after slamming his head into the ground.

But what more can I expect from a Vikings fan in the national media?

Gotcha. It’s too bad- we need WRs to be willing and able blockers. Hope ESB works on that. He might be too slight though…

I wouldn’t blame Lazard for his whiff- that DB read it and was in there practically before Alan could legally start blocking.

I would have been fine cutting him this off-season but have to admit I was wrong on that one. Preston has been pretty good this year and it's nice to have him considering Z's health.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.
