Would rather bite the bullet all in 1-2 years as opposed to the dead cap spread out over longer anyways. But yeah, if he retires or regresses after 2023, we're **** for a while.

Enjoy the moment and leave the future for the future.

Let's try to focus on SB instead of our salary cap in 3 or more years, if we suck after that, this is OK because we had more than 30 straight years of a HoF QB leading us. Most of us are Bucks fans (or Magic in my case), what's the problem of sucking for 2 years? It goes fast.

This definitely seals Jordan Loves fate - he is a gone either this off-season or next.

I mean who could have possibly predicted any of this at the time of the trade-up-and-pick-a-QB? :D

1) Rodgers being vindictive after the organization bet against him
2) Rodgers regaining form
3) the timeline not working out for Jordan Love
4) multiple off seasons filled with drama

There was absolutely no way to see any of that coming. Blindsided I tell ya.

Gutey did get one thing right here though and that was making sure Rodgers didn't win a Super Bowl with another organization. Its not my money but sheesh... wonder how much they could have saved if they simply didn't trip all over themselves a couple years back.

There’s an argument to be made, that without the drafting of Love and Rodgers’ anger, he would have never returned to this form.

I was against drafting Love at the time fwiw

Exactly. A tear down/rebuild will come. We all know that. But in the meantime we're contenders.

ESPN was talking about Rodgers new deal and said Packers we're bringing back Campbell AND Douglas. Any news on Douglas?

Good. Lazard is important to the run game. He's basically their split out TE.

So what are the cap hits? Don’t get the NFL contracts at all.

Edit: Nevermind

This is the last I heard less than an hour ago:

The #Packers and CB Rasul Douglas are having ongoing conversations on a potential extension, per source. Green Bay would like to keep Douglas after his big five-interception season. Other teams have high interest.

Also I read they want to get the Jaire deal done before they look to resign Rasul...

Man, if we can add an impact DT(round 1 or 2), a slot WR (round 2 or 3) that has some YAC and a field stretcher (Will Fuller? or from the draft), we are in a pretty good position.

I really don't like the market on the TE. So I'd probably lean toward bringing Mercedes back and wait for the market to cool. End up with a guy like Hayden Hurst, Anthony Firkser, Blake Jarwin and maybe even Eric Ebron. Also a couple of decent prospects that are interesting in the draft if we were to trade Love and give us a bit more ammunition to add an offensive piece.

One underrated thing about Gute, I don't think any GM has had to make more massive / high payroll decisions on talent than he has in the last three years. Pretty incredible the number of guys we have had to pay and the massive contracts we still have to pay on top of that (Adams, Alexander, Gary, Jenkins)

We better be trading Love to the highest bidder.

I'm cool with bringing Douglas back but I do wonder what the opportunity cost would be, like if they would have to cut Amos to make it happen then I'd rather just roll with Alexander, Stokes and Sullivan with some young guys or cheap FAs as competition.

He feel like more of a luxury than a must keep.

I wonder if Savage could get traded. They need to make a decision on his 5th year option. He's been alright but probably not super high on their list of guys they need to keep long term. Might be a good idea to see what he could fetch in a trade before losing him in a year or two for nothing.
