Re: Training Camp Thread
Losing Barclay sucks because he's the only guy who can play all five OL positions.

Re: Training Camp Thread
Losing Barclay sucks but I think we still have two quality backup OL in Sherrod and whoever doesn't start at C. But still, these types of injuries blow.

Sucks for Don and the pack. I guess on a positive note it happened early enough in camp where they have time to plan without him and for him it's early enough in the year where he should be 100% next camp.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Re: Training Camp Thread
Barclay really hurts our OL depth especially with a guy like Bulaga who has been injury prone. I feel we're pretty thin at guard and who knows with Sherrod as backup tackle. He didn't exactly excel pre-injury so I don't feel like he's a given to do the job.

One of many to end up on IR this season. I think we will beat the Seahawks but how many players do you think on IR it will cost us?
Packers lead the NFL in injuries every season. It's not bad luck its coaching staff, training staff something is not right and its never fixed and just ignored. We have like a perma Madden curse on this team.

Seems to me they change something in their training program every off season that is aimed at injuries. It just goes to show you it is unpredictable. These guys bodies are like a stretched rubber band, they are ready to snap at any point.

Re: Training Camp Thread
Maybe start a pool.
Name how many players total on IR at end of regular season?
How many starters?
Name the hardest hit position group?
my guess
14-5-RB
Get one right wins a free medical marijuana prescription
Get two right receive a free darvaset persciption
Get three right = one free confinement at Betty Ford Recovery Center

Re: Training Camp Thread
Is there any data that shows we are way ahead of everyone in injuries? Like Number of games missed by top 40 players? I just wonder if we are in a bubble and after getting hit so hard a few years back, it seems like we have more than normal.

I don't buy at all that it's something the Packers are doing wrong given the vast majority of injuries are pure fluke except for maybe certain players who for whatever reason genetically seem more injury prone like say Mike Neal.
How the hell is any team supposed to prevent injuries like ACL's or neck injuries? Matthews breaking his thumb multiple times? Football is a violent game and thus tons of players get injured around the league every year.

Re: Training Camp Thread
If anyone has some great ideas on what the Packers are doing wrong and what they can do to reduce the number of injuries I'm sure the team would love to hear from you.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

On top of that people notice their own team's injuries more because most of us live and die with every game the Packers play. I doubt most Packers fans could even name half of the Jacksonsville Jaguars roster let alone know who gets injured from year to year.
Here is a current list of injured/out players by team
http://www.rotoworld.com/teams/injuries/nfl/all/
Right now we have 3 people out, two ACLs and a neck then we have Worthy on the PUP and Lyerla week to week.
So we technically have 3 people on IR.
Seattle has FIVE, plenty of other teams have 2-3 as well.
I would also argue that Franklin's injury was last year so we only have 2 from this year, it just appears on the list because the transaction officially happened this year.
