Reminder that this is obviously nonsense. Trades out of the first round are rare anyway, but I have zero doubt that where the draft is held has any influence on the job Gute is doing.

If we had a top pick it could make sense, but a late 1st doesn't.
I could see the NFL calling the packers to "encourage" them to keep their pick and create a little more excitement at the draft.

If we got offered Myles Garrett or Micah Parsons for the 1st....well then duh we would.

Calais Campbell or Carl Granderson make a lot of sense.

Happy trails Preston. He had a nice run here.

Preston was on his last legs and was not going to be brought back so getting a pick, even a 7th, for him was fine.

Time to see what Van Ness and I guess Mosby or Cox can do in the pass rush.

Big spotlight on LVN.

Eight regular season games plus playoffs hopefully, to see what Mosby and Cox and LVN can do.

It might set the tone for the next draft if we go after a edge-rusher early or not.

I would guess that next draft is all about defense again. We're pretty solidified at every spot on offense going into next year. Obviously we'll probably sprinkle in a few offensive players throughout but I'd imagine our high picks are almost all on defensive players. The only defensive position I think that's locked down for next year is Safety

This is why I think people are overreacting to Jordan Love's interceptions. They are frustrating but Love is still a really good QB even with them. If he cleans those up he'll be back to an elite QB

I imagine him calling every team.. come in guys i need a 7th.. who do you want.. anyone except Love is on the table lol

Ge has them stuck so far up his ass that he needs a enema to get them out.
We need a upgrade in the DB dept so wash goes gets lattimore.
We need upgrade at wr but gute will never trade his special draft picks even if it meant bringing in a srud wr

Too much angst about Preston. His playing time has dwindled because he's sucked this year. As for not adding anyone, it's not like Gute didn't try. He said he did but there was no deal to be made. But we're 6-3 (3-6 last year) and in a position to make the playoffs again. That's all you can ask.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Yeah not getting worked up over trading Preston Smith. He was going to be cut this offseason because he's massively overpaid at this point in his career, now the Packers have him off the books and can use that money to sign a quality free agent or two.

The Packers may at times miss Smith's ability to set the edge but as far as pass rushing goes nothing will be missed there.

Preston asked to be traded because the new schema didn't fit his style, that's a fair excuse, IMO.

He will be a FA next offseason (we would cut him), so it gives some games to show that he can still play when the schema fits.

I am totally fine with his ask and we trading him for anything we could get. Guy played here for almost 6 years and he was always professional.

Agreed. He asked quietly as far as I can tell. Win win.

I’m not sure how many of picks he has thrown, but I feel like 2 of them were because of the injury and he did a **** job getting rid of the ball. And I can think of two plays were Wicks fell down and the other team had a free pick.

Love seems sloppier in his footwork this year vs second half of last year and almost too confident in his ability to make some throws. But I think the journey with him has been a blast and as he gets more experience, I expect him to make less bonehead plays.

Yup, I have zero issues with an athlete doing this behind closed doors.

He's consistently been #2 in snaps at DE behind Gary. Now we are looking at Enagbare and Van Ness at that DE position. The guys behind them probably aren't even NFL players.

I just read that he requested a trade, so I'm cool with it, but I also get why people aren't happy about it from the football side of things. He is still a useful player at a premium position that is very weak outside of Gary. If Gary gets hurt, we are ****. If Enagbare or Van Ness gets hurt, we have no depth.
