I'm going to be disappointed if they don't come out of FA with two starting safeties.

We should be getting news about Bahktiari, Campbell, & Jones this weekend right?

I like Xavier McKinney and Justin Simmons a lot. Do you think the Packers pursue either one? Who are you hoping they target there? This safety class is trash and we need security on the back end of the D. Simmons seems like a no brainer to me, he’s the star vet but McKinney is 24 with star potential so I’d be kind of torn if I had to choose. Any chance we could sign both? Lol

Matthew Berry doesn't say anything major in here that we haven't heard but does say Dillon likely won't be back and Bahktiari is likely to be released

Maybe the most interesting thing is he says the Packers like Emmanuel Wilson and he'll get a chance to earn the RB2 job

Yeah, not much of a surprise there. He always gave us that one year of great LB play. Best of luck.

Bahk next?

I think the most interesting part is designating is a June 1 cut. That would seem to indicate GB will spend some $ in Free Agency

Also of note in there:

In addition, they have several of their own free agents they want to re-sign, such as cornerback/returner Keisean Nixon, linebacker Eric Wilson and tight end Tyler Davis.

Makes sense for ST porpoises.

Not necessarily. There's no penalty or downside for keeping cap room open this year. We can always roll it forward.

I’d hate to lose Nixon honestly. It’s not like he’s someone that will command a huge payday to stick around. A fair market contract for him will sure up depth at CB and he’s an electric return man. It’s a no brainer unless you’re 100% confident you can replace him with a rookie.

I don't want anyone who thinks they should be returning kickoffs out of the endzone. Nixon can GTFO.

They could also just tell him he can't do that anymore.

I wasn't really on board with bringing Nixon back originally but with the new proposed Kickoff rules supposedly incentiving teams to return kicks then Nixon makes a ton of sense to bring back. He can be your slot CB & KR

This. 100% on the coaching staff. If he still does it then bench his ass.

I'm fine bringing Nixon back as a returner and emergency CB but Id like them to upgrade the nickel spot. He wasn't very good overall and really bad in a couple games.

I honestly kind of refuse to believe the staff is responsible. It's such a basic ass thing that would have helped the ST last season that I would expect a junior high school coach to get it right.

I'm guessing that the truth is somewhere in the middle. I'm sure they'd like him to take a knee more, and Bisaccia explicitly said something to that effect. However, he's a dynamic returner who nearly saved their entire season in 2022, so I'm sure they also empower him to make that decision - which is on them - and are counting on him to make better ones. It's pretty obvious that he's overconfident in his ability to turn everything into a good return, and that needs to be addressed.

He's a bad DB, but I can live with him coming back on a bargain deal.
