That was the beginning. I stopped worrying quite so much about sports after that game. Once covid happened, I started fully appreciating that there are far more important things to care about than bitchy millionaires playing games.Ron Swanson wrote:Interesting how no one ever says the 2008 NFCCG. Maybe people were just expecting us to lose in the SB to the unbeaten Pats? Favre sealing our fate (and his own) with the bonehead interception to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Hasn't been a great run for 'ol Brett since then...
Now sports are just entertainment. If I can watch a game, great. I dont plan my schedule around it though.
only a fan, only an opinion

Sometimes the best moves are the one's you don't make
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I was good enough in highschool that I would have at least received scholarships from some decent schools. Too many injuries and two concussions in my last season stopped all of that.
Sometimes I feel like it's the worst thing that happened to me and I could have made the NFL, sometimes I feel like it was a blessing in disguise.

Obviously the knee was acting up in week 7 but it looks like if he can manage the pain (not easy) he's playing well.

It'd be a huge boon if he can continue to play and play well. Like I said in the draft thread, he's a prime candidate to be traded in the offseason.

Eh, we now have a half season of data from 2022 that we didn't have when we resigned AR. If we knew this was the AR we were getting back then, we would've traded his ass for picks. AR is a sunk cost at this point, you have to look at is as we are 3-5 and as of RIGHT NOW with all the data we have, do you want to invest more in this team. I think the answer is no.

“It was three o’clock in the morning on some night in January 2017,” Shields wrote for The Players’ Tribune early in the 2018 season. “It felt like my brain was cramping, or like it was trying to break out of my skull or something. I was rolling around in my bed, whipping my body back and forth, trying to escape the pounding inside my head. Next thing I know, I’m curled up in the fetal position, shaking and crying.”
Feel the video clip doesn't give it justice. (Almost appears whining he isn't the center of attention) The story gives more background. Packers seemed to have done the right thing (IIRC) to not sign him. Football is a stupid sport. I'm weening myself off.......(says the man posting on a football forum)

Shields's Players Tribune article, from back when he signed with the Rams, is worth a read, as well.

Love Sam and still have his jersey I got immediately after the Super Bowl. This one hurts.

For the love of God who are the 4 safeties worse at tackling??? Doesn't even seem possible. Everything else checks out.

The Seattle game doesn’t even register for me. I get sadder about the Denver Super Bowl, the Terrell Owens catch with the 49ers, and 4th and 26th. The Favre era should have had two more Super Bowl wins.
ETA: We may have had more painful playoff chokes than any other club the last 25 years. And all different coaches. Holmgren, Sherman, McCarthy and even LaFleur.

And the corruption around the sport is pretty sickening.
