It’s almost that’s what leaders do or something. Glad to hear it

JayMKE wrote:I qualified what I said enough that it shouldn't be taken as Love literally needs to win MVP in X amount of years or he's a bust, the point being that to justify Gute's pick & developing a guy for years Love has to be more than just an average QB. If Love busts then 100% Gute has to be fired, I feel like most people agree with that so how good does Love have to be good for you to be satisfied?

It seems odd people who have bitched about Rodgers's play for years adopt a live & let live approach with his successor & our dumbass FO.

I don't agree with that, but then I'm sane! :naaa:

Lol. Takes a whole lot of audacity to call someone out for saying MVP or bust for Love, and then go on to use 4 of the 5 best QBs in the AFC as a measuring stick.. if he would’ve said “MVP candidate or bust” and you couldn’t have used 4 MVP candidate QBs, what would you have said then?

What? I'm not the one using MVPs are a measuring stick. Dude above needs Love to be Mahomes to justify trading up. As if there isn't a level below All-Time Great that would be pretty awesome.

Yeah the 'ousting' of Rodgers so he must be MVP level or it is a failure is pretty puzzling. There are a lot of outcomes in between failure and greatest QB of all time for Jordan that would great results. Sucks if people are setting the bar at MVP, just not a realistic expectation.

Since 2007 here is the list of MVPs;
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady
Aaron Rodgers
Adrian Peterson
Cam Newton
Matt Ryan (no idea he won MVP)
Lamar Jackson
Patrick Mahomes

If by 2024 Jordan Love isn't on there, bust, big time!

What if he's only Drew Brees level?

Fun article with a few interesting Nuggets, I really enjoyed the specific adjustment Lafleur pointed out about balance and Jordan attempting to perfect that, just some fun inside baseball stuff

Love inviting Jones, Watson and Doubs to work on routes and timing is exactly what I wanted to hear. Fantastic.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

So once the Rodgers deal is done, what do we do next?

The idea of leverage keeps getting thrown around in the Rodgers to Jets stories - if Love starts out 2023 well, he's got a lot of leverage on an extension since we really have committed ourselves to him.

This assumes we decline the $20+ million 5th year option. Maybe we do pick it up and it gives more evaluation time but adds a higher dollar number starting point on a contract/extension.

I'd be pretty surprised if we don't pick up the 5th year option

Yeah, I guess I was operating on not picking it up due to the uncertainty of Rodgers when this was discussed a few months ago.

Now we probably know there will be no Rodgers. Pick it up. What's the date to decide? This might also be part of the Jets' leverage on us - they know we need to 100% have Rodgers out the door to pick up the option.

They can save just as much dead cap by cutting him as they can by trading him, so they don't have to wait for a trade to happen if they are set on moving on and giving the keys to Love. Heck, they can actually spread out the cap hit in a more team-friendly way if they wait to cut him, rather than trading him before June 1st.

The only scenario where Rodgers's status is a factor in their decisions re: Love is if Rodgers decides he wants to play for GB and they decide they want him back, both of which seem, needless to say, rather unlikely.

See the other thread. Cutting him is absolutely not an option.

What I'm not prepared for vis-a-vis the Love era is the English language's move away from including "I" as the pronoun identifying the proceeding noun - say, the noun "Love." By the time my brain learns that people starting sentences with "Love..." are referring to our QB, as opposed to something they love, Love will no longer be our QB.

7:35 TJ talks a bit about Jordan Love and how he's throwing differently now.

I think they, and by ‘they’ I mean I’m not entirely willing to bet on my accuracy one way or the other, but in any case I’m sure there was video side by side or otherwise of Loves Eagle game throws and the mimicry of ARod. It was akin to all those Kobe/Jordan overlap plays. The wrist flick, the little hop in concert with the throw to minimize weight to surface, the hip twist, the pre throw ball staging…it was encouraging in the fact that the kid was absolutely honing in on and working on the quantifiable and repeatable things that made an HOF an HOF.
