He only had 2 drops because they never throw to him. Why? Because he can't get open. Washed, was last good in 2021. Hard pass.

He had 105 targets in 12 games.

Given the lack of guarantees given out I’m really surprised by the backlash from the fanbase on Hobbs and Banks. If there’s one area that one need not question Guter it’s free agency. Dude has mastered it

He's washed. Has no explosion. Can't get open.

2021 1947 yards
2022 812 yards
2023 737 yards
2024 710 yards

Decline every year, what do you think is next? As he gets older he becomes slower and less valuable with more injuries.

Good thing is Gute get's it. He signed a 27 year old guard and a 25 year old CB today.

Ian Rappaport said Banks was the top guard on the open market when we signed him earlier today but the highest I’ve seen him ranked on quite a few different free agent rankings was like in the 70s with multiple interior OL ranked ahead of him. I found that odd. Was Rappaport just pumping up the signing for click bait purposes with his tweet or is there truth to Aaron Banks being really good? I’d be lying if I said I knew anything about the guy. 9ers have had a stout OL for awhile now so I’d imagine he’s serviceable at the very least but the top guard in the FA class seems like a stretch based on all these rankings. We certainly paid him like a top guard.. anyone have some insight there? Is coming off a season ending knee injury what hurt his free agent ranking? I guess we didn’t think it was a big deal overall.

I'm not signing him to be a #1 or #2. If he'd take a small one year deal to be a proven vet in a room full of kids he'd be a great addition. His 67% catch percentage would be better than Doubs, Watson, Wicks, or Melton. Any one of those four would kill to have 67 catches over 17 games, much less 12.

The only two that make sense would be trading for Hendrickson or signing Ojulari imo
I kinda think it has to be Hendrickson otherwise why would they be so secretive about it?

I get it but he's not going to help us. He's not any better getting open than Reed or Doubs at this point and he's 3X the money.
We need a guy that can get down the field.

I likewise DON'T UNDERSTAND any backlash regarding the two specific signings today (depending upon the guaranteed $ for Banks) as Banks effectively, after Elgton shifts to Center, replaces Myers and Hobbs is at least another body in the CB room that will likely be losing Jaire and Stokes.

I think these were two solid additions.

I DO UNDERSTAND fans who look at the WR room and Edge/pass rush and worry that Guter is just gonna rely upon the draft and a Sammy Watkins-level veteran addition to bolster those two critical, and sadly deficient, parts of the team.

If there are two areas one absolutely must question Guter in it is his (in)ability to add quality WRs during his now 8 years as GM and his drafting of pass rushers.

We need WRs who can catch the ball, and again, if he's expensive then I'll pass.

Doubs can't be counted on because he's a concussion away from retirement and Watson won't be ready next season. We need at least two WRs and I'd prefer one that we know can actually play.

Come on down Tyler Lockett and Cooper Kupp.

Bring me Ojulari and MVS and let's roll into the draft

Unless you thought that Stafford was cooked last year (I don't), I don't know how you look at Kupp's production and some of the advanced receiving stuff (career lows in YAC, YPC, and success rate) and determine that he doesn't already have one foot in the wash(ing) machine. He's Raiders Jordy Nelson right now. No thanks.

We signed this guy earlier this year. Don’t know if he can play but his RAS looks like a pro WR.

Nobody can make a logical argument that Stafford was cooked after looking at Puka's numbers. The fact that Kupp now has Puka opposite of him to draw coverage makes his dropoff look even worse.

I don't know what you guys are doing with Kupp but do you not realize he missed six games last year? His 17 game pace was 103 receptions, 1097 yards, and 9 touchdowns. He had three 100 yard games, a ninety yard game, and an eighty yard game.

If you don't want to sign him because of injury concerns I get that. It's fair. But you can't say that he isn't still good, or anywhere near washed.

Been following the thread, and had to log in just to throw support on RS's take here - if we can get Kupp on a reasonable deal, DO IT.

Kupp was an incredible mentor for Puka, that's very well documented, he remains an active, tenacious run blocker and downfield blocker when others catch the ball, and homie still has amazing hands and sense for the moment.

Last night I got sucked into watching a Youtube clip, something like Aaron Rodgers throws dimes for 30 minutes. Kupp would come here for the synergistic impact - he still carries a gravity as a zone beater, and I would love to see how that loosens things up when Watson is healthy, Reed is doing his thing, Wicks isn't catching the ball, and Doubs remains unconcussed.
You gotta make it sexy! Hips and nips, otherwise I'm not eating.
