There’s a report out now that Hafley didn’t get the Jets HC job and us staying in GB. That’s some good news. Thou he was probably a long shot anyway.

Hafley didn't get the Jets gig. That's nice, though I might have preferred Saleh as DC.

It's interesting to see Jaire that low but I believe his metrics with zone defense have always been better than man coverage

Jaire's been dinged up too (shocking, I know...)

I'm surprised that Nixon rates so high.

I'm willing to concede some bias in how I view Nixon because he's largely been a pretty solid slot guy, but he's not a boundary corner and the organization can't in any way be thinking he's the answer there anymore. You need at least two corners better than him on this roster.

I'm excited to see what Carrington does in his third year. Pretty decent rookie season, then started out this year with some injuries but really cranked it up the last 4 weeks of the season and was one of the better graded DB's. Hoping one more offseason getting stronger and another year in Hafley's defense can unlock him even more.

:D

I can see where Bisaccia's fire-and-brimstone personality would appeal to an old-school guy like Jerry. The players in LV and GB seem to like him too, so there's that. Otherwise, I don't get it, but I'd be quite OK with Rich heading to Dallas.

GREEN BAY – Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur has made two moves to make sure his coaching staff remains intact, signing special teams coach Rich Bisaccia to an extension and hiring defensive consultant Luke Getsy to a full-time position as offensive senior assistant, sources said.

Bisaccia, one of the highest-paid special teams coordinators in the NFL, had one year remaining on his contract, according to a source. It is believed another year was added, guaranteeing that Bisaccia would have plenty of incentive to stick around a few more years.

There were league sources who said there were rumblings that Bisaccia might retire, but the new deal assures he'll return as special teams coordinator and LaFleur's game management adviser.

Bringing Getsy back makes sense

I'm sure the reaction to the Bisaccia extension will be normal

I don't love Bisaccia, but I think he's fine. Our Special teams this year was middle of the pack in the NFL by DVOA and was actually pretty good after moving on from Narveson. The Bears got us on the trick punt return and obviously the Nixon fumble & McManus missed FG in the playoffs left a sour taste in our mouth but for the most part I thought our Special teams unit this past season was OK, which is more than you can say for most of the last decade plus

Special teams were average at best last year. Even with a DVOA ending the season middle of the pack, they weren't there until about December. Up until then they were treading water with ranks closer to 26th and later. The minimal improvement towards the end of the season is definitely a plus, but I'm not sure Rich has done enough to deserve an extension. He must be a huge help to LaFleur in other ways. Not a huge deal either way, but I hope they can keep improving that unit. Having an actual kicker definitely helps lol.

Now that we finally had a reliable FG kicker it actually makes those middle-of-the-pack rankings look worse. McManus was like, the 2nd most accurate kicker in football in the final 11-games, so that buoyed the overall numbers quite a bit. Whelan had a low-key terrible year punting the ball (28 out of 39 in gross average) and we were 30th in kick coverage. I have no clue what Bisaccia has done to earn this kind of job security. He really is the **** Joe Barry of ST coordinators.

Maybe Bisaccia's last contract, before retiring?

Something interesting is going on. I'm wondering if Bisaccia is scared Whelan will out punt his coverage and is asking him to hold back a bit. Packers had the 2nd fewest number of punts returned and were around 14th or so in fair catches but were 20th in number of punts.

Thought this was a good article on the Bisaccia extension, essentially it's fine
