Barnes and Campbell injuries probably pushed Quay into a bigger role than expected. But we drafted Wyatt because he should have been a ready starter day 1. I think Reed and Slaton being better than expected is a part of it but we really need to get him more reps so we can see what we have.

MickeyDavis wrote:I never judge rookies in their first year, many/most take time to adjust to the NFL. But now that the season is winding down I'd like to know why Wyatt isn't seeing the field more. You can only get better by playing. He missed one game but in all the others here are his snap counts and percentage of snaps played:

12 - 19%
4 - 10%
7 - 11%
5 - 9%
7 - 13%
12 - 16%
10 - 17%
10 - 16%
14 - 17%
15 - 23%
20 - 25%
9 - 17%

It does look like his PT was ramping up until yesterday. He's had 125 snaps. T.J. Slaton has had 257. Clark has over 600. Maybe Wyatt loafs in practice, I don't know. I guess the easy thing is to blame Barry but he's played Quay plenty so he has no aversion to rookies.

The defensive line rotation stinks and Barry likes to play lots of nickel. Many times then with only 2 DL. Both Slayton and Heflin looked better than both Wyatt and Ford in the preseason but sit on the practice squad with No PT too. Clark at the beginning of the season was a different player than now. All those snaps are taking a toll on his play and Reed as well.

Are they though? What else is he going to say. '**** I have no idea' wouldn't have gone over too well. Plus even if he thought he sucked he'd want to gas him up so maybe he could salvage a little draft capital in a trade.

I found the answer about Rodgers more interesting because it wasn't a quick 'yes' when asked if they want him back.

Specifically the part about having seen enough to know whether they will pick up the option. He could easily have deferred and said something along the lines of "we'll cross that bridge in the offseason"

He also said at one point he doesn't see Rodgers and Love both on the roster in 2024.

9 snaps last week just isn't enough for a guy producing in those limited reps. Did Wyatt sleep with Barry's wife?

Jaelon Darden was waived by TB. He’d be a good add and should give us a plus punt returner to go along with Nixon looking like a plus KR

Moved from Badgers thread

I know this is kind of the wrong thread, but the Packers really need to cut the sh*t and just hire a top notch defensive coordinator that's already been highly successful in the NFL. Someone like a Vic Fangio.

I mean, both Pettine (NYJ) and Capers (PIT, MIA, JAX) were "top-notch" defensive coordinators with a track record of great defenses before they were hired, so I'm not sure why that should be a big consideration.

The stories about him that are going to come out five years from now will be absolutely crazy.

"Do you believe in 9/11?" Wow.
We need a reporter to jump on him. It's going to take a lot to get us out of paying him $59M next year, but he's nutso angle might be our best approach. No way someone's taking that contract though. Not as it's structured.

I wonder if anyone can trace his nuttiness back to the 2010 @Detroit game.

**** at this point maybe Pettine was better than we thought and made some guys seem better than they really are.

With the Rams win tonight, If the Packers had lost against the Bears, there would only be 2 teams with a worse record in the league.
Dammit.

This wishing the Packers lost or even hoping to lose to the BEARS makes me sick. Makes me question how much of fan you truly are and reminds me how spoiled of fan base we’ve become with Farve and Rodgers. Where was Tony Mandarich picked? 2nd overall. Oh and how many HOFers were picked after him? Interesting, very interesting.

I try not to play the IF game when it comes to draft picks. The more your team loses, that likely means you have more holes to fill. Ex: If Watson didn't blossom the last 4 weeks, we likely have 2 extra losses vs. Dallas and Chicago. While that's great for draft position, that also means we probably think we have another hole to fill at WR.

Questioning the fandom of people who spend massive amounts of time on an Internet sports forum is... interesting.
