Looks like Z Smith isn’t happy. First his mysterious “back” issue and now this

Steelers caved and guaranteed 3 years of Watt's salary. Gute is in a tough spot here. He's done nothing to prepare for this, no high draft pick or impact receiver on the roster to replace Devante. Hope he figures something out.

Silly to sign him to an extension until you know if Rodgers will be back. If Rodgers returns you sign Adams. And you have the tag option as well. If Rodgers is gone you rebuild and you don't do that with the highest paid WR.

Plus there's Jaire. His 5th year option kicks in next year and his cap number goes from $3.8 million to $13.3 million. They'll likely extend him after the season and get the 2022 cap number down.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Can't have the highest paid QB, LT, CB, and WR in football when the salary cap exists.

Lost some respect for Za'Darius when he quit in the NFCCG against San Fran and I'm tired of all the snub stuff.

Between Jaire Alexander, Rashan Gary, Elgton Jenkins, Davante Adams, and Darnell Savage you have five guys who are going to set the market for guys at their position, or come close. Never mind quality young guys who will be paid substantially like Tonyan and MVS. Cap sheet is going to look like hell and obviously not all those guys are gonna return. The Smiths probably aren't back, Adams is gone, and Bak is all but gone in 2023.

Fennel no longer as high on Savage.

Savage & Gary didn’t do anything to earn real money on Sunday.
In 37 snaps Gary had 0 tackles, 0 assists, 0 sacks, and 2 quarterback pressures. With Z out this was his time to shine and he did almost nothing.

If Gary does nothing all season he won't get paid, but he's been great for over a season now.

Funny because I thought Gary was the only guy who looked like he was consistently getting free of his blocker, even if the box stats don't really reflect it. If not for the horrible roughing call I don't think I would've known that Z even played. Him and Kenny were completely invisible.

I thought Gary played fairly well. The issue is everyone else around him was invisible.

I'm also a little surprised more folks aren't worried about Z. Smith's back. That's something that could spell disaster if it lingers throughout the year.

People were noticing Z took out "Packers" on his IG bio. Guessing he knows he won't be back after this year?

This team has become very dramatic all of a sudden lol. Personally, I think this version of the team has ran it's course. They are still going to be good, despite this one game, but I just don't know if they will get over that hump.

I wouldn't be opposed to just a clean slate rebuild after the year. Let Adams walk, trade Rodgers, move on from the Smiths, make Jenkins the permanent RT, let Jordan Love take his lumps as our new starter and just move forward. Also dump this awful defense and get someone from the Saleh tree. Dump cap and some draft capital at a new defense.

I agree with an awful lot of what you are suggesting. Certainly willing to give this team time to turn it around, but as much as they want to say this offseason didn't hurt the team, it sure seems like it, hurt the team.

Playing against a cover 2 shouldn't have completely ground our offense to a stop, it's not like something completely new was being used and we had never seen it before, but instead, it was like all our worse tendencies arrived at the same time and we look like crap.

I'd probably tag Davante if nothing else, because someone is giving you a first round pick for him, and if not, you are still getting a year of him as a safety valve for Love. Just don't see how you could let him walk for nothing.

Yeah, you're right. I wasn't sure if you could tag a guy and then trade him. But agree with you, those options would be best.

Don't they need to have the cap space to tag Adams? The wr franchise tag next year is projected to be around $19 million. Looks like the only way Adams is here next year is if he signs an extension that will lower his cap number for a couple of years.

I think there is a way to make damn near anything happen with nfl cap space. It was like two years ago and the Chiefs were over the cap and still gave out a bunch of massive contracts. So if Rodgers is going, which I expect he is, clears 20M himself. Zadarius I think clears 16M if he is cut, Present Smith 12.5M if he is cut.

According to Spotrac we are 27M over without Adams. Let's say he counts as 20M or so, we can certainly figure out a way to keep him around if we want to.

The beers were flowing, but I felt like when they FINALLY got around to putting in Slaton it seemed to make a difference on the D line, because the Lancaster and Lowrys of the world weren't doing **** out there.

Same goes for King, if fast guys are just going to run past him, take your damn lumps with Stokes. King does not play like a 4.4 guy sadly.
