Yes, and I'm saying that people were pointing out that our patchwork corner room last year wasn't gonna sustain that same level play just because we brought back the same personnel, and you can argue that should have been obvious. Nixon still isn't an ideal #1, we overpaid a mediocre slot corner to play on the boundary, and converted a WR to backfill depth. Not here for the Hafley blame game, and least not yet. The defense gave up 13 and 16 points in both our losses, and held the opposing QB's to 55.6 and 48.3 passer ratings. They played more than good enough to win.

Most likely, we are going to drop to like the 6 seed, which, whatever, it's wide open and I wouldn't care.

But if we lose most of the expected/tough ones like Philly/@Detroit/Baltimore/@Denver, there is essentially zero room for error against some tough division opponents in 4 games of Vikings/Bears.
All your really describing is importance of winning the division.

I've said all year that the best 2 teams in the NFC are GB and Detroit and wining the division is going to go a long way to decide which one represents the conference

I've seen nothing to dissuade me from that opinion despite losing at the last 2nd to the Browns and Carolina

Well, the issue is we just lost Kraft and even if we're one of "the best 2 teams in the NFC" we are probably one more stupid loss from simply missing the playoffs.

I 100% agree with you about a run stuffing IDL. But we've also gotten worse against the pass then we were last year despite largely bringing back the same secondary and adding Parsons to our pass rush

The secondary was absolutely an identifiable issue going into the season, but a lot of people pushed back on that because of "something something Nixon was actually a borderline elite #1 last season". Sure, and a lot of us didn't believe that was sustainable, so here we are. Ironically, Vallentine (8th best corner in coverage grade by PFF) looks like the only guy who's a keeper going forward.

The secondary was always an issue but it was always something you could live with because of the pass rush. The pair of Nixon and Valentine can survive imo as long as they stop the run and keep having success with the pass rush. The Panthers game showed exactly what are the real weaknesses. The run defense lost the game. Losing Wooden didn't help but they are way too thin at the position. Brooks and Wyatt aren't run stoppers and Stackhouse hasn't been good. For me it's simple, stop the run and you win. They could get after a CB for depth but getting stronger in the interior is a bigger need.

Calm down. We're still leading the division and in good shape from a po position standpoint and have one loss to a sub .500 team this season (yes the Carolina loss is obviously disappointing but they haven't been a bottom feeder this year at 5-4)

Saw this stat on ESPN and thought it was interesting:

Air yards per pass attempt by spread under Matt LaFleur
Jordan Love Aaron Rodgers League average (2016-2025)
Favorite of 7.5 points or more 6.5 7.6 7.8
Favorite of 7 points or fewer 7.8 8.1 7.7
Underdog of 7 points or fewer 8.5 7.5 7.5
Underdog of 7.5 points or more 9.8 8.1 7.7

Seems like Love and/or MLF clinch up the bigger the favorite we are. Tough to say if it's play calling or decision making, might be some of both.

ETA: well that formatted like ****, sorry about that.

Thanks for posting this. It’s nice to see some #s that back up what we’re seeing with our eyes. They definitely take their foot off the gas against inferior competition.

If we are going to trade for a TE I'm looking at NJoku first and if they want too much then I like Mayer.

I don't mind the idea of adding Mayer, cost depending of course. He hasn't been good in the NFL but he's still young and cost controlled for another year. And going from a terrible offense to a good one might help unlock him a bit
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

IF there is contact going about Mayer, does that put even more pressure on Musgrave? Step up or step out?

I can imagine the expectation from Kraft is that he will rehab as hard as Watson has done, and plan to be playing this time next season. So, a rental of Mayer seems unlikely to me, if Musgrave is still in the picture. Fitzpatrick is a blocking #3 guy

He's rated highly as a blocker in college and the pros despite being unproductive. Makes sense if the price is a 5th/6th or something.

Well if they don't trade for a TE that means they do still have faith in him. I really believe he's been a victim of Tucker Kraft success and the logjam at WR. Musgrave is a move TE, not a blocker nor a YAC merchant. Send him down field he will open up your offense or Put him vs a safety or a LB and he will cook them. Lafleur didn't have a spot for him since Kraft took over the spot as the main receiving TE. I still believe he's a good player but he needs to be used accordingly.

We'll find out shortly. I'm worried that he's a JAG

It's lonely on the Musgrave bandwagon. :sigh:
