While complaining about Gute, maybe take a second to realize we just beat two of the better defenses in the league, down three all pro lineman from last season. Some incredible O line depth and coaching on this team that deserves a major cap tip to the GM and staff.

You guys can keep worrying about ILB, but I'd argue Campbell has been a great pick up, probably what we thought we were getting with Kirksey. I'd certainly add another guy to the mix if Smith is the right fit, just super odd timing of the release of him and Gilmore that doesn't quite make a lot of sense on first pass.

His contract next year is guaranteed upon injury. Between other guys playing better, scheme (using Neal in place of a backer), and the obvious risk of his salary being on the books next season, he was an easy cut.

Does anyone know when Gilmore can come off the PUP? I heard Week 6 he's eligible but also it could still be later until he's ready? Not too caught up on his injury status.

Campbell is the PFF # 4 LB. Jaylon Smith is the PFF # 13

Barnes is #34 FYI

Both Campbell and Smith both very good in coverage for PFF, #3 (Smith) and #4 (Campbell). That would give us some excellent coverage between the two, something we haven't seen from that position in forever.

Gilmore wants a juicy extension. Adams will be a FA. Jaire will get a juicy extension. You can always be creative with the cap. It doesn't make sense to bring in/extend Gilmore and letting Adams and/or Jaire go. And none of it makes sense if you plan to go with Love next season imo.

Yeah I wouldn't get too excited about Gilmore if he requires a big long term pay day. Hard to see how they could make that work. Now if it's just for this year and they get creative with and the cost is just a little more dead cap next season then sure because it's likely a rebuild year anyway.

I can see Gilmore signing a 1 year deal now in hopes of getting a huge payday this summer. No competitive team is giving him 15 mil per at this point of the season imo, and if they do then oh well....nothing we can do about that. He can either sign a 1 year deal with a superbowl contender and get paid in the offseason........or sign 15 mil per with the Jags and be cut in a year or two anyways.

I am not losing Adams or Jaire to sign him, but it would be nice to get him on a 1 year deal and go all in because this team could suck to high heaven next year.

Welp, guess he chooses money over winning. Can't blame him.

Good 3-3-5 defense, he will do well but they aren't getting close to SB.

Dream is over...

The Panthers traded for the veteran cornerback Wednesday, sending a 2023 sixth-rounder to New England.

The interesting bit will be if it was his choice. If not, Pats just pissed off a longtime player for a 6th round pick when he had a clear target destination

You would think they at least discussed it with him otherwise, Carolina is just dumb.
