I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

idk what to make of this at all in terms of reliability but I could get on board with Julio provided the Packers understand what he is at this point in his career and realize they would still need to spend some premium draft capital at the position.

I'd bring him in dirt cheap. Is Woelfels source still Larry Harris?

Re: Packers 2022 Offseason Thread - Pre Draft
“For us, it all starts with the punt team,” Bisaccia said. “You’ve got to find those six guys who can play in the box, from tackle to wing on both sides and then the personal protector who can direct them and all be on the same page. From there, those guys can usually fan out to play the other three phases that we need them to play in. But we’ve got to be able to put a punt team together that can protect the punter and transition right into becoming a team that sets the defense. My favorite thing about punt team is it’s the most transitional play in all of football. It covers the most yardage, but you’re an offensive player first. You have the ball, so you’re protecting the punter behind you. Essentially that’s your quarterback, and right away (it) transitions into a defensive play.”
Bisaccia also said that Pat O’Donnell, the former longtime Bears punter now with Green Bay, was a player he wanted when he first arrived in Oakland four years ago.
“He’s played real well in bad weather,” Bisaccia said of O’Donnell. “He’s played outside his entire career. He’s a tremendous athlete, wonderful holder, and his job at holder is to make everybody right. He’s got to make the snapper right. He’s got to make the kicker right and he’s done that for a long time.”
“They have to have an expectation that we have a one-play mentality,” Bisaccia said of his special teams. “We don’t get three downs to get it right. We have one play to make a difference, and they have to understand the significance and the criticalness of that particular play, and I think if we can get that across, we’ll play better.”

Maybe out of context, but he might be on team Mason if he is focusing on the hold this much.

Probably, but that also might be good team politik too. You give the long serving vet the opportunity to show if he's still got it, or he's part of the problem.

I’ve known Crosby for a long time. He’s had a hell of a career. Actually had him back in the Senior Bowl when he was coming out (in 2007). The one good thing I know about Crosby is that he’s come back from a down year to play really well."

To me it actually sounded like he might not be back

Sure whatever, we need at least one vet and everyone still out there is pretty washed or flawed in some way. I would have zero expectations for him but at least Watkins is still only 28.

I always feel like Watkins is much older than he actually is. Wouldn't mind kicking the tires I guess.

Yeah, we can't roll into camp with Lazard, Cobb, Amari, and a bunch of rookies and practice squad guys. At least we know he can play, just can't stay on the field. Hopefully if we sign him the physical tools are still there, we get somewhat lucky with his health, and Rodgers makes him look good.

Woah Watkins only being 28 is hurting my brain. Feels like he's been around forever. Isn't he kind of loony?Turk Nowitzki wrote:Sure whatever, we need at least one vet and everyone still out there is pretty washed or flawed in some way. Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I figured a retread would be brought in, but pretty underwhelming if that's the move. He's no better than Lazard, and I'm not sure he's even better than Cobb at this point.
I'd go Julio if given the choice. More upside.

I’ve always liked Watkins but his issue has been his health and I think that’s robbed him of his once elite ability

I'd be happy with Watkins from the standpoint of we need at least one vet you can reliably throw out there (assuming good health). Bring in Jarvis Landry or Keelan Cole while they're at it too.

Yuck. Watkins is already kinda washed and can't stay healthy. For dirt cheap, sure, but this would have vibes of bringing in Anthony Hargrove in 2012 when we had zero good edge rushers outside of Clay. Incredibly underwhelming.

Re: Packers 2022 Offseason Thread - Pre Draft
Watkins is fine if he is cheap. Same goes for Julio.
I don't think either guy prevents us from what we are planning to do in the draft and who knows, maybe MLF unlocks a way to use those guys that rolls back the clock a bit.

I can't shake the feeling that there would be a late career renaissance with Julio Jones pending overall health. We all saw what Rodgers did with a 31 year old James Jones.
