Stop screwing with this kids mind!

They are giving him a look and a chance to win a starting spot. If it doesn't work, he'll be moved out to OT shortly. I'd rather have them give him a shot to start than not even give him a shot to compete at OG.

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It was hours before the Green Bay Packers' first practice of training camp when tight end Jermichael Finley stepped in front of reporters and announced that if he makes it through this season without missing a game he would "change the tight end position."

Then came the exclamation point.

"I guarantee it," he said.

I didn't know what he meant then, but I do now. I attended practice the next two nights and saw the future of the tight end position in jersey No. 88 for the Green Bay Packers. It is Jermichael Finley, and he is part wide receiver, part tight end and All-World at one of the game's most important positions...

If he's healthy he's the best non-QB offensive weapon in the NFL.

Don Banks again, on the Packers.

But that said, I don't think it's just the same old Super Bowl champion talk in the case of these Packers. You can't talk your way to back-to-back, you have to earn it on the field. It's what you do, not what you say. But this is a young, deep and ridiculously talented Green Bay roster, with solid coaching and a quality front office. And that means the premise of the Packers having an extended Super Bowl window of opportunity isn't just some baseless preseason storyline to fall back on. This team is loaded, and it knows it.

Reading that makes me smile quite a bit. Could definitely argue the Packers as the most well run team in pro sports right now.

Hopefully with all the receiving threats one of the backs can bust a long run in the first half to really open things up, and then run some clock in the second half to keep the defense off the field.

Haven't you been listening to ESPN and the NFL Network the past few days? It's the Eagles.

As Rob Demovsky noted in the training camp Insider from Monday night’s practice, left tackle Marshall Newhouse and right tackle Ray Dominguez jumped out during one-on-one pass-blocking drills – the second-year pro Newhouse for the improvement he’s made since last year’s training camp, and Dominguez for having a rough first night in his first padded practice as an undrafted rookie.

But there were a couple of other noteworthy performances in one-on-ones. Right tackle Bryan Bulaga looked in midseason form in his two snaps – the first an impressive win against one of the league’s premier pass rushers, Clay Matthews, the second against outside linebacker Erik Walden.

On the other side of the ball, nose tackle B.J. Raji looked quick off the ball in his four rushes. On his first, first-round pick Derek Sherrod blocked him just well enough, but Raji clearly won his next three rushes. He beat beat rookie guard Caleb Schlauderaff on one, starting center scott Wells on another, and then was almost untouched when he smoked guard-center Evan Dietrich-Smith with a quick move on the third.

Sherrod, the Packers’ first-round draft pick, had the good snap in blocking Raji at guard, but later at left tackle was beaten by Walden on a bull rush and was beaten badly on an outside speed rush by undrafted rookie Jamari Lattimore. On his last snap, back at guard, Sherrod had a stalemate with first-year pro Jay Ross.

Best quote from the article.
"I know one Dream Team and that was with Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley,'' Woodson said Sunday, with more than a hint of sarcasm.

In his last 15 games he has caught 77 passes for 1074 yards with 6 TDs.

Not for a guy who just turned 24 and is only going to get better. I don't understand why people go out of their way to hate the guy.

Some people lauded our run D last year, but it was actually pretty poor, 28th in YPC allowed. That is one area we can improve even if the pass rush suffers some. We're going to need more sacks out of the ROLB spot this year to make up for some of the pass rush loss of Jenkins.

16th in DVOA against the run. Can definitely improve, but they aren't awful.

I was joking. I view him as a Pro Bowl lock if healthy.

For the sake of comparison, amongst TEs last year 77 catches would have tied for 2nd, 1074 yards would have been 1st, and 6 TDs would have tied for 6th.

We also played a 2-4-5 75% of the time last year which made us more vulnerable to the run. I would guess that our base was top 5-10 against the run.

If he plays every game this year I wouldn't be surprised to see him with 90+ catches and 10 TDs. Rodgers will spread it around but his #1 target will be the big guy going across the middle.
