There’s got to be a first school to stand up to the 20 year olds. If it’s UW, so be it.

It would be fun for the fairness of the sport, but the schools have no leverage on most of this stuff and it’s only loosely associated with the school, so I dunno…cool, I guess.

Yea, I think a collective would have good grounds to go after money paid, but I haven't heard of anything that would challenge a kid's right to transfer. This is one of those cases where I really hope Wisconsin has their ducks lined up.

The collective can sue for breach of contract (if there was one) but that doesn't have anything to with the portal.

I remember when Bo Ryan fought this battle a decade ago with Uthoff and it ended up reflecting poorly on UW.

Until the inevitable end of unionization and CBAs and contracts, schools don't have leverage to keep these guys from moving other than to build programs which are attractive enough to keep them here. That's where Fickell has struggled so far.

I’m not sure how inevitable it is due to the 2nd half of your statement. In the end it’ll maybe get there…but how can the students not love this and refuse to give in?

Guaranteed contracts, to start. CBAs would also lead to a more equitable distribution of revenue between the programs and the athletes across the board, and among the programs and the athletes themselves.

I couldn’t care less. You sign a contract, as an adult….? Welcome to the real world. **** him. **** Miami. **** his agent. **** any player who might care about this in the future. UW can be the team to save the sport from its own largesse. Good. Great. Maybe he has more money to pay attorneys than UW. I doubt it. Maybe Miami wants discovery to happen. I doubt it. **** them all. This too shall pass.

I had no idea this was happening until I opened the thread to see what the buzz on Tawee Walker was. I don’t think anyone cares about this (yet) except for Miami fans. If someone sues someone there’ll be national media attention, but we’ll see if it goes that far.

Re Walker: he was fine. Maybe like a poor man’s Corey Clement. Got what was there, no more. Didn’t really fumble. Didn’t really give any explosive plays.

Filled in fine. Hoping for a little more pop next year.

I should be more clear. There's been buzz about guys being sour on the way out, yada yada. I'm surprised Walker wouldn't opt to stay here, so cuious if there was any dirt about him being forced out, bad mouthing anyone, whatever. I haven't seen any, and there's none in thread here, so I'm guessing it's quiet.

Best of luck to Mabrey. No issues at all with him, but considering how diabolocally our fans called for him...woof

Can go both ways with this one…

Mettauer joins freshman Mertz in the hall of fame of, “I’ve read about this guy’s star rating on the web, therefore it is proven fact he should be on the field right now and the coaches are stupid.”

That said, going to a smaller school is probably the smartest thing a younger QB can do these days.

Will never not be amazing that the Badgers had Isaac Guerendo, one of the most physically gifted athletes in the entire sport of football, on campus for five seasons and he got 99 carries.

Reminds me of the days when we would give the ball to Melvin Gordon 15 times when he was averaging 13 yards per carry, but having Joel Stave throw 30 passes.

We also had Gordon, White and Ball on the same team. About once a year I watch the highlights of the B1G Title game where they ran wild on NEB. Good times.

I was best man in a wedding that night, and all I remember was showing my phone to people saying "You believe this??"
