At what point does Brown's agent say: "Antonio, how about you go for a nice six week vacation in the Maldives? It will really help....."

Re: 2019 Packers Off Season Thread
As I said months ago: AB is just a no brainer 'DO NOT' trade any asset to get him into your organization. It has been clear BUT it is just becoming more clear: The man is an absolute Diva. Just listen to Chris Simms. He's talked about it ad nauseum on Simms and Lefkoe: You turn on the tape and it's not AB getting massive separation from guys it's Big Ben throwing that ball on a dime into very very tight windows. There is a definitive reason the Steelers have stuck with Ben throughout this entire affair. Brown just isn't as good as people make him out to be and he's clearly borderline insane. I mean, those soundbites. Those opinions. That moustache?!? Whew.

Dude....this on top of the things LeBron has been saying lately, along with Anthony Davis saying hes the CEO of his career. It is all turning me off from sports as a whole. These guys make so much money now that they don't even care about the game as much. And if they don't care, why should I?

Re: 2019 Packers Off Season Thread
I think it's a systemic thing. There is so much money involved and they way the system works these are the reactions and symptoms you have to deal with in relation to it. The culture breeds a 'me first', 'gotta get mine' mentality. Adam Silver commenting that 'a lot of NBA players are unhappy right now' speaks to this. I really think this is a microcosm of our society today where everything moves to fast that relationally we don't get a chance to connect anymore. Without connection the team is lost in the shuffle and everything begins to crumble.
My thought is that it's one of the major reasons why the Bucks have been have been successful this season. They have a superstar with a team first mentality. Same thing with the Brewers. Yelich was the MVP but you never got the sense that he was bigger than the sum of any parts. That was a team effort. Most of those guys on their own were nothing special. When a team has success it creates positive efficacy.
It's also why Lebron is having an unsuccessful season. He's not putting the team first. Chemistry isn't measured but once it is I think it's the next analytic that teams will use to their advantage. Frankly, I'm kind of surprised teams don't employ psychologists to run these sort of empirical tests on their teams. Maybe they do but if so you don't hear about it.
Anyway, I digress. My guess is that AB will bounce around the league for years until he flames out if he doesn't realize this or buy in.

While I do agree with your premise, the Lakers aren't a good example. They've been devastated by injuries this year. LeBron has missed 18 games, Lonzo Ball has missed 16 games, Rajon Rondo has missed 34 games, Brandon Ingram has missed, and Brandon Ingram has missed 11 games. That's your four primary ball handlers. Really, the only core Laker that has stayed healthy has been Kyle Kuzma. Add in a poor coach and it's not going to go well. They were 4th in the West before injuries took their toll on the Lakers, and now they're 10th in the West.

A bit of commentary on the possible salary path for premier pass rushers in FA from CBS. To be sure, the source info here is largely from agents chumming the water....

Mack and Donald should soon have company in the $20 million-per-year non-quarterback club. Over the next couple of years, $20 million per year pass rushers will start becoming a regularity in the NFL. The process with pass rushers probably won't operate like the top of the quarterback market has been recently. Multiple quarterbacks have taken turns as the NFL's highest-paid player. Each new high-end deal for a passer seemingly tops the last one. The high-end pass rusher market will likely become further defined between Mack's deal and Miller's outdated contract.

I think Fowler Jr. would make a ton of sense seeing as how they had interest at the trade deadline last year. I'd LOVE to add Za'Darius Smith or Preston Smith if they hit the market.

Early part of this Draft Analyst pod (my man, Tony Pauline) - Packers have shown serious interest in Preson Smith and will first look to address pass rush in FA.

Re: 2019 Packers Off Season Thread
My ideal off-season. Pick up a pass rusher and safety in free agency. Preston Smith and Landon Collins would be my preferred choice. Then in the draft take a pass rusher at 12 (my guy is Brian Burns) and best available TE at #30 (Hockenson, Fant, Smith). Then in round two, take best available safety (Really like Chauncey Gardner-Johnson) and follow that up by taking best available lineman in the third. I think that would be a solid start.

Collins isn't going to be tagged by the Giants either. Please, Gute.

I'm never paying an inside LB as much as Mosley is gonna command unless he's prime Ray Lewis. I'd be open to Houston on a front-loaded contract but the age and injury issues definitely scare me.

Let's just sign Collins, Weddle and Barron. Max that cap out, why not.

Thomas, Collins, Mathieu, and Weddle are all FA's and we have nothing at the S position. Hell, there are a half dozen other guys out there who would probably be at least marginal upgrades too. Time to make a move there.

No to Weddle. He's probably due to retire
