Matt Miller:

GREEN BAY: Even after adding Devin Funchess, receiver is an early need for the Packers. One very well-connected front-office member from another team mentioned he's heard the Packers will consider a quarterback in the first two rounds.

He's got the Packers taking Fromm in the second.

I certainly believe that's possible. But I also think its more likely that Gute may be baiting somebody in the queue of picks behind the Packers. Seeing if he can scare up a useful pick swap.

I've really never been remotely impressed with Fromm. Ironically, the guy who couldn't beat him out would intrigue me more. Eason's got a cannon.

I feel like this would be a very shrewd thing to do if you knew you wanted WR and were interested in moving down

I heard from a very well connected nurse that she may have heard a doctor's mechanic say the coronavirus is contagious.

Don't get me wrong, I love the rumors, but if you read some of them very closely, they are laughable. These writers have become very good at crafting these one liners designed to get clicks

Fromm reminds me of Brohm. Not just because they rhyme either.

I would take Love if he fell to us.

Are you ok with a total project in need of starting over from square one ? That's Love. Who is going to teach him ? Getsy ? MLF ?

About the only pick at #30 that would truly surprise me would be a CB, S, or another Edge.

Trading back a few spots into the 2nd wouldn't surprise.

Trading off one or more of the 6th and 7ths wouldn't surprise. I'll be surprised if it doesn't happen.

Trading up from #30 would be a surprise, but that's certainly possible, if they feel that Marshall or Queen are the real deal.

I could see the Packers taking the kid from Southern Ill and making him our Derwin James.

If only we had a future HOFer that Love could sit in the QB room with and learn things from...

Or if he could be taught by a guy who was Matt Ryan's QB Coach the year he was MVP...

Chinn? He's big and sounds impressive.

Love didn't take a single snap from under center in college. Are you telling me Rodgers is gonna teach him that ? There are no less than 5 different dropbacks to learn with all the footwork. He has a long delivery, some say a loop in his throwing motion. So that has to be revamped. MLF was Ryan's QB coach a full 7 years after Ryan entered the league. I'm pretty sure Ryan had that stuff under control by the time MLF got there.
I'm not saying there isn't a plan in place, because I have no clue. But there better be some sort of QB school because Love has to basically start from scratch. Everything from the snap of the ball to the release. That's a tad more involved than "go watch the hall of famer" misconceptions that fans think happens

He's bigger and more athletic than Murray and Queen. I bet someone takes him on physical tools, a lot like when the Cowboys took Byron Jones a few years ago after he smoked everyone pre-draft.

I saw one of the mock ratings had him at #84, so do you take him round 2, or risk him being around till 3?

Ideally you'd get him in round 2, but I think he's long gone by then.

What do you think makes Chinn a better round 2/3 prospect than Logan Wilson? (he was brought up a couple of pages back)

Honestly, I'm going mostly on some of the draft write ups. I haven't watched much college ball in the last couple of years.

Chinn's as good an athlete in this draft as there is, maybe outside of only Simmons.

Here is PFF thoughts, reminds me a lot of a guy named Aaron Rouse back in the day

Chinn has peak athletic tools for the safety position, but he's far more athlete than football player at this point. The tape says late
round project at this point.

Even against FCS competition at Southern Illinois this
past season, Chinn looked consistently a tick slow.
Whether it was him coming downhill on a screen or
reacting to a route break, Chinn's processing speed left
a lot to be desired. That only got amplified at the week
of practices at the Senior Bowl where he lost all three of
his one-on-one coverage reps and failed to make many
plays throughout the week. He's an intriguing athlete for
sure, but he'll have to get schemed easy reads at the
NFL level to make an impact early on in his career.

NFL player comparison
Josh Jones

Chinn dunked on every drill he
participated in at the Combine. He
has an elite, explosive athletic
profile, which is even more
impressive at his listed weight of
221 pounds

Wow, loved Rouse at VT. I wanted him to be our Sean Taylor so bad. Thought for sure we had finally found a monster player to terrorize the field and he just never did anything remotely close. Even Thomas Davis paved the way for Rouse to transition from college safety to pro LB. I can’t remember if Rouse ever even got that chance but I do remember we drafted Nick Collins after Rouse busted and it didn’t matter anymore.

Can’t believe that’s 13yrs ago now.
