When they made these picks I thought it meant they'd be using a lot of 2 TE sets, perhaps as H-backs. But no.
Lewis and Tonyan have combined to play about 100% of the snaps (obviously sometimes they were on the field together).
Did they really think Sternberger and Deguara were the BPA by far, or did they make a strategic error (picking guys they should have known they wouldn't use because of their position)?

Deguara is injured since week 5, he was playing well until then, IMO, but it's hard to see that basically in the past 2 drafts we only managed to add Jenkins to our lineups and that's it.

Excited for Austin! Always felt Ervin wasn't very good and the system made him look usable lol.

At this point the only picks from 2020 that I wouldn't bet on being big contributors going forward are Summers, D Williams and "maybe" Hollman. Gary and Savage have been making some big strides. Keke looks like he'll be a player on the D-line. And Sternberger looks alright when you consider TEs take longer to develop and he was kinda a project pick to begin with. Then obviously Jenkins looks like and absolute blue chipper.

That draft really looks like its turned a corner so id say you are definitely "looking past" it

No, it's a valid concern. Trubisky has given the Bears a shot in the arm, and the least talked about story of the weekend is that they are now tied with Minny and they play each other next week. If the Bears win, they are on the verge of the playoffs and will be a tough game for us. Couple that with the Titans game, and 2 of the final 3 could be very challenging.

Yeah it's the NFL you can lose any game. Id say it's 50/50 the pack win out but that Saints loss was big because now the pack can lose one and have some chance of finishing 1. What's the tie breaker looking like with the Rams and Seahawks? They play each other so one will end up with 5 loses.

Next tiebreaker without head-to-head is conference record. Rams have lost 4 games, 2 in NFC (49ers twice). Seahawks have lost 4 games, 3 in conference (Rams, Giants, Cardinals). Packers have lost 3 games, 2 in NFC (Vikings, TB).

So I think it goes like this. If the winner of the Rams-Seahawks game ends at 12-4 and so do the Packers because they lost to CAR or CHI, then: 1) we lose a tiebreaker to the Rams 2) we're tied with Seahawks still in NFC play so it goes to the next tiebreaker, common opponents, then strength of victory, and so on. If the Packers end up 12-4 because they lost to TEN, then: 1) we win the tiebreaker with the Seahawks 2) we're tied with the Rams in NFC play so it goes to common opponents etc.

That's assuming the Saints aren't also 12-4 and there's no 3-way tiebreaker. If the Saints also finish 12-4 because they lost to the Vikings or CAR, then there's a 3-way tiebreaker with SEA-GB in that scenario where it goes to common opponents etc; and the Saints are 12-4 cuz they lost to KC, then they would win the 3-way tiebreaker on NFC record. If it's a Rams-GB-Saints tie, GB finishes 2nd or 3rd.

Basically, GB just needs to keep winning. :) But if there's going to be one loss, losing to the Titans is better than losing to the Bears or CAR. And we're probably rooting for SEA over Rams just in case.

Thanks man. So yeah pack should probably just win out :)

I guess the simple way to look at it is if the pack don't win out they need the whomever wins the Seattle vs Rams game is to lose 1 other game putting everyone in the West at 5 loses and then they get the 1 as long as the saints lose 1 more.

Huh?

Gary
Savage
Jenkins
Martin
Keke
Scott
Runyan

Excusing that guys like Sternberger, Deguara, and Stepaniak have been hurt. That's 7 guys from the last two classes that are either looking like sophomore studs (Gary, Savage, Jenkins, Keke) or have filled in for injured guys and given you good snaps (Martin, Scott, Runyan). I don't know why people are still griping about the last two draft classes. They've legitimately been great.

It’s hard for people to admit they were wrong. I myself hated the Gary pick but feel pretty comfortable eating crow at this point. This week’s win was just very encouraging overall to the future of the team despite the likelihood of losing 2-3 of Jones, King and Linsley. Tonyan has arrived. Gary looks like he may never look back and MVS may have finally turned that corner. (ETA: Savage too) Could see him (them) having an absolutely bonkers year in 2021. And if the plan is Dillon for next year and beyond then I’m ok with getting as much mileage out of Jones/Williams while AJ essentially takes a redshirt rookie season.

Final thought: NFL front offices are smarter than armchair GMs.

I thought it through, and predict he ends up with the Dolphins. It was down to them, the Jets, and the Bengals. Neither of those 2 are in the "win now" mode of signing a high-priced RB, and the Jets' Bell debacle is probably too fresh in their minds.

The "It Is Time!" comment to Clay Matthews before he forced that fumble in the Super Bowl will always make him a Packers legend in my book.

Rodgers, Jones, Adams, Bahk, Jenkins, Smith and Alexander make the Pro Bowl. Bob was snubbed.
