Bills not trading for Brown now, wonder if the Packers jump back in?

Today's Dougherty filler piece from the MJS:

https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/dougherty/2019/03/08/dougherty-packers-targets-free-agency-draft-constantly-shifting/3085569002/

“Then the next guy you thought was going to be affordable and you get a bidding war there. You can end up losing three, four, five guys at the same position and get nobody.”

Keep that in mind as you think the offseason through. Gutekunst needs almost everything: at least two pass rushers, a starting guard and backup tackle, one and maybe two starting safeties, and at least one tight end. If they want to run the ball like coach Matt LaFlaeur says, they need another good running back. They need a slot receiver and could use help at inside linebacker, maybe cornerback too.

If I were a betting man, I’d bet Gutekunst goes for quantity in free agency over a big-ticket signing. And that he’ll take a pass rusher at No. 12. But that’s just a wild guess. You never know what players he has taken a shine to, and if things will look any differently in late April than they do now.

All we know is, Gutekunst and his scouts have their free-agent and draft boards. They’ve gamed out scenario after scenario. Next week they’ll start making those big calls for real, and on the fly.

AB is **** diva for sure...but if not many teams are interested, I wonder how low his price has been driven down.

Wont be surprised one bit if the Steelers dont trade him and just let AB rot at this point.

They did it to Bell and at least he wasnt actively trying to kill all of his trade value while becoming one of the biggest douche bags in the league

Nah, Bell didn't sign his franchise tender so they didn't have to pay him when he held out. Brown is under contract and I doubt they'll just eat that salary while he's sitting at home.

He's gonna end up in NE for a 5th rounder and BB will have played everyone again.

Between free agency and the draft, I'm hopeful we'll be able to get two quality safeties.

They're going to be eating a pretty big cap hit when they trade him also.

I can just see Rooney telling him to get bent at this point is all

They also released Malik Jackson making the defensive tackle position just as much of a buyers market as the safety position. Looks like the worst position to sign in free agency is edge rusher.

Last week, there were a couple of articles pointing to top pass rush FA's looking at $20 Million per being the going market. To be fair, the probable source for that number is players agents, but there likely is some reality there.

He's apparently on the way to the Bills, but the fact that we were in on him tells me that this is going to be an interesting offseason.

Gute has said he wants to be "in on everyone". Basically at least calling to get the asking price for every player rumored to be on the block.

That's what he should be doing. Even if you're not especially motivated to land a player, being "in on everyone" enables you to find bargains that you'd otherwise miss.

That's been the Belichick model for years, now. And it looks like he's about to add Michael Bennett on the cheap, too.

I am going to laugh my ass off if AB ends up on the Patriots. Tom Brady is going to be a 42 year old unanimous league MVP this season if that happens.

I'm really hoping for a decent sized jump from Oren Burks. I'm not opposed to upgrading that position, but him being such a high pick, I hope he can show something in his second year.

Not sure how this board felt about micheal bennett but the pats got a good player for only 2 low draft picks 9 sacks would of looked good in GB weddle though 36 still a great safety signed 2 year deal with La rams

0% chance Bennett was ever coming here considering his brother quit on the Packers and then threw the Packers medical staff under the bus. He would have have looked terrible in a Packers uniform.
