Kinda afraid we might fire Barry after this game just to string a few fluke defensive performances under the interim DC who then gets the job and gets exposed next season.

Fire the guy that put the defense together?

This is something that should be said before the season starts if you really believe it. I think we all agreed we had a lot of defensive talent going into the season. Barry was the only thing we were unsure of

Only 7.4 yards per carry and 40 points allowed, I'd give him another season, seems like he's just starting to figure it out.

So Love had a great two series, but he missed Lazard for a td.

Quay made a great play, but missed giving our offense a chance by whiffing on two tackles.

Watson had some great plays, but he dropped another ball on our first drive.

Young stars shine, but a long ways to go.

They weren't good last year and yet for some reason a lot of Packer nation was pushing the narrative they were going to be elite. I personally never bought into the hype. We've been here before with this team.

I don't even care about the numbers or situation I was most encouraged that the ball just looked good coming out and he was decesive with it. First time I really saw that with him.

Shut down Rodgers for the year and fire Barry. It's Love time.

A few annoying drops here and there but he's really been balling ever since he came back from the last injury. Wasn't kidding earlier in the season when I said I just want him to show us he isn't just a more athletic MVS and he certainly showed me.

He's been a different player ever since he caught that bomb for a TD against Dallas.

They were good at times last year—won the game vs Arizona and all those pick-6’s from Rasul—and they played very well against the Niners in the punt-block playoff game. You add a healthy all-pro CB who was injured last year, plus two 1st-round draft picks, and you expect to be a top defense. You only lost Z Smith, but I always felt like he was overrated; he was horrible against the run, always guessing and not able to just hold the edge. Anyway, I don’t think it was a weird expectation.

Rodgers just said he is going to keep playing until they are mathematically eliminated.

He can say that but if they let him play over Love right now they need to let Gute go

Yeah, and it was a fair projection. We were gonna be adding Jaire who missed most of the season, expecting Stokes and Gary to take a bigger leap (Gary did), and we invested in another 3 down ILB so we could run more nickel and not get exploited by the run in 2nd and short situations. I think Gute's process was good. There weren't any glaring holes after the offseason, but clearly there's something missing.

Stuff like Justin Jefferson gaining 140 some yards without a CB covering him is not a GM problem. That's a Barry problem. So far, more signs to point to scheme issues rather than personnel issues. It could be both, but I'm still leaning towards believing a defense with playmakers like Jaire, Gary, Clark, Campbell should be way more competent.

Nah, it was a massive overreaction to 1 great game vs the 49ers in terrible weather conditions with all our guys fully healthy and rested playing against an injured, mediocre QB having an awful game. Even then they choked on the last drive allowing the Niners to convert on a game ending 3rd and 7 run.

During the regular season they sucked against a backup QB vs the Ravens, sucked against the Browns despite having 4 picks, had awful games against the Saints, 49ers and Vikings and I could go on and on listing below average performances. Even that Cardinals game you mentioned I think that pick by Rasul was the only stop we got in the 2nd half and it was because AJ Green forgot the play.

Pretty sure they were 22nd in DVOA last season and it was for a good reason

Love looked great in a limited sample size but honestly the biggest take away for me was that he didn't look wide eyed in the least when they zoomed in. That's the biggest difference I saw

Has anyone else noticed that the defense doesn't seem eager to actually tackle people? Is there reliable missed tackle stats? But it's not so much "missed tackle" as it is "not even trying to tackle."
