I can't see why anyone wouldn't at a minimum have reasonable doubt. Obviously a poor line and green receivers factor in.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
Crosby wrecked their game plan, MLF's offense looks like trash, and the WRs did Love no favors.
That said, Love isn't popping or elevating the guys around him either.
Regardless, barring injury, they'll know at the end of the season whether he's the guy going forward or not.

Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
The two negative things that stand out for me are terrible accuracy on throws 10+ yards in the air, and happy feet/panic in the pocket which leads to too quick of decisions that are usually bad. Last night he had multiple opportunities to run the ball for 15+ yards he didn’t take.
The OL definitely sucks right now and the two drops by Doubs and Musgrave late were killer, but I just don’t know if he can fix the accuracy issues regardless. That loss and his play deflated me.

We're getting the full highest highs and lowest lows of having a young QB. I don't think you could put a young QB in a worse situation than he's been put in the last two-weeks though. Zero run game, garbage O-line, and a defense constantly hemorrhaging yards and having edge rushers cover Top-5 WR's. If the rest of the roster is doing him no favors, then it's gonna look bad. He still needs to figure out how to settle things down though. The accuracy issues don't seem to be going away, and that first INT was just straight mind-boggling. Stretch of the next 3-games against bad defenses is gonna be telling.

We have OL and youth issues for sure, but the playing scared thing is what really was a gut punch last night. He wanted no part of hanging in the pocket.

Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
Outside of the stats I thought last night was by far the worst he looked eye test wise. Never looked comfortable or in control of the game and I thought his decision making was the worst it's been in 5 games.
I thought both him and the coaching staff didn't appear to trust the line which is concerning because this is the group we have for the rest and of the season and while it's not a great group it's probably about league average as is so if you can't call an O or play QB behind this group then it's a problem.
Conditions around Love aren't super great right now but if he's going to be 'the guy' then he needs to find a way to succeed in less than perfect conditions. That's what good QBs do.

Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
Worth noting this was Love's first truly bad game atleast according to PFF, a 60 grade is roughly average for context
Bears- 60.8
Falcons- 59.3
Saints- 63.9
Lions- 68.1
Raiders- 53
However he doesn't have any great performances lifting him up either. It's been an up & down season for him which I think was to be expected and I won't make any true judgments until after week 18. But I think the people who were calling him a HOFer after the first couple weeks and the people who are now saying he's a bust are both making premature conclusions. We have a long way to go here before we really know what we have.

Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
It was going to be a tough year to evaluate Love because of all the youth, but it has ended up being even tougher because of all the injuries. Outside of the QB position, how many teams are putting out a worse group of players than the Packers? Dillon is playing himself out of the league, and the receiving group is absurdly young. The OL has also been banged up all year. They have a ton of potential, but right now this is easily one of the worst groups in the league.
I'm really interested in seeing how he plays in the last 6 or so games with more snaps under his belt. The big thing after that, of course, will be how he plays in his second season as a starter.

They didn't/haven't put Love in a position to succeed. When Rodgers became the starter we had solidified quality starters at every level. Just look around the league at the young QBs who do well. Every single one of them is surrounded by talent outside of maybe Lawrence (?).

And he didn't look real good that first year either.

Rodgers had some down games in his first year but you absolutely saw the flashes that we have not seen from Love. The Packers were a 10-6 team that had some ridiculously bad luck that season and went 6-10. Yes, Love has an emptier shelf to work with but I am not seeing what I saw with Rodgers. It's fine if Love is not a HOF player, by the way.

Maybe not hall of fame standard but if Love isn't a 'win because of him' level QB then in my opinion Gutes gamble to take him was a failure. You can find a just a guy type QB without all the damn drama this caused and opportunity cost of using that pick on a non win now player.Kerb Hohl wrote:Rodgers had some down games in his first year but you absolutely saw the flashes that we have not seen from Love. The odds you draft a true franchise QB are low. Thats why I was fundamentally against that pick, the chances of that decision actually working out were always really low.
And I hate losing cheap rookie contract years IF you get lucky and draft a franchise QB. That little window before their huge second contract hits is such a competitive advantage.
