Beat your wife/commit actual crimes = suspended a handful of games.
Bet on games when you weren't even playing = suspended the entire year.
Perfectly on brand for the NFL.

Raiders hire Drayton for assistant special teams coach
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: ATL - Combine
Players betting on games, especially ones which involve their own teams - regardless of whether or not said player is in that game - is ****. I'm fine with ripping up the NFL and their business practices as long as there's clear division that we're not trying to absolve a player from betting on games. The suspension is wholly appropriate.
And I'll be honest, I do not see why the NFL (or any sport) accepting the inevitability of sports betting, and simultaneously condemning their own players from betting on said games, have to be mutually exclusive.
You guys lost me.
ETA: Looks like most agree. I just got caught up based on the post from the most recent page here.

I've said on here how uncomfortable I am with the proliferation of gambling in virtually every aspect of sports. I think it's pretty **** up, to be honest. When you read where the money in DraftKings may actually be coming from or originated, it's disturbing.
So I get the cries of hypocrisy, but only to a point. That point is when a player starts to gamble on his own league. You gotta come down hard as hell on that.

I have not read and I probably don’t want to. I am 0% interested in gambling. It’s like against every natural instinct of my being. But I have many friends who love it and have bet on sports for 10 years - it’s just more convenient for them to now.
You’re right though that there can be an issue if there’s dirty money. And of course there is. It just doesn’t change anything about the Ridley situation is all.

It's a tightrope you have to walk for all parties involved.
I like gambling and I'm one of the millions that tune into a Browns/Titans TNF game probably 90% because of fantasy or gambling.
The owners are greedy and try to take as much from the players as they can. True.
The players would not be paid nearly this much if not for the existence of gambling/fantasy. True.
The players/owners are making even more money due to cozying up to gambling. True.
You have to come down on gambling on your own league. True.
The punishment may not fit the crime for Ridley given the details. Probably true.
Maybe the best solution is that he appeals and the suspension is shortened or something.

I'm sure they've been talking about it for awhile, you don't do a trade like this in an hour . But Denver definitely waited to pull the trigger until Rodgers decided.
