I can't get on board with any ranking that has Loveland that high and ahead of Warren. Loveland's a good TE prospect, but he's in the Tyler Eifert class IMO. I think don't think Loveland's a special athlete and with his frame he's going to miss a lot of games.

Warren IMO is in the Bowers class of TE.

PFF Draft Guide is out. If you want to know anything on a particular player let me know. Player comps are a bit interesting.

What does PFF say about Luther Burden and Isaiah Bond?

Burden:

Image

"Burden is an ideal “five-tool,” multi-sport athlete for the receiver position in the NFL. The first-round talent is as well-rounded as they come, displaying the ability to succeed at any receiver spot in any offense."

Bond (Isaiah Bond):

"Bond's world-class speed will be coveted, likely in the top 50, but he needs to continue to grow as a receiver — not just a fast player — to remain on the field for more than vertical play calls"

They're a LOT higher on Burden than I've been the last two years. If they're right, he'd be an easy target at 23. But I'd have to trust them more than my own lying eyes.

I'm just going to wait this one out and let you guys tell if the pick is good or not

I don't really have any known favorites like last year with CB's we seemed to actively avoid and most coverage i've listened too is all top end of the draft stuff.

What about the other top WRs in McMillan, Golden, Egbuka and Higgins

I am going to guess comparisons

McMillan-Drake London
Golden-DeVonta Smith
Egbuka-Diggs or Godwin
Higgins-McLaurin

McMillan: AJ Green
Golden: Sefon Diggs
Egbuka: Amon-Ra St. Brown
Higgins: Tim Patrick

I found all of their player comps in the guide to be interesting but especially the WRs. They're almost too conservative (IMO) with most of their player comps throughout the draft, but they seem to be really on the WR class. And I think it mostly sucks.

Higgins and Tim Patrick? I hope that's wrong I am really high on him. Egbuka compared to St. Brown is weird. I thought one of the Jaylin's (Noel, Royals, or Lane) would be closer to that. But I will take it as I have been high on Egbuka in the first and Higgins in the later rounds (2-3).

I see a mix of Deebo and Jordan Addison when I watch Luther’s tape. He really pops to me. He’s my favorite player in the draft. He seems like a wet dream in Lafleurs offense that covers all the things MLF wants from his WRs moving them all over the place and creating multiple options for Love. I just think he’s the perfect fit that could really elevate the offense and make it more dynamic. I’m not gonna pretend I watched Missouri football games but I have watched a decent bit of highlights and lowlights from him and he definitely has a chance to be a special player.

Bruce Feldman's mock in the Athletic is full of great into. Instead of quoting a bunch of lying NFL scouts like Bob McGinn, he uses his college coach connections and gets info from people with no reason to lie.

23. Green Bay Packers: Grey Zabel, OL, North Dakota State
Zabel is the latest in a long line of gifted O-linemen who blossomed in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Zabel shined in Senior Bowl practices and turned heads at the combine, where at 6-6 and 312 pounds, he vertical jumped an astounding 36 1/2 inches — the best of all the O-linemen. He has excellent position flexibility, having played left tackle, right tackle and guard. His arm length of just 32 inches is why some personnel people think he’s best suited as an interior lineman.

“He’s a talented, physical kid,” one Missouri Valley head coach said. “I don’t think he’s quite as good as (Bucs guard) Cody Mauch or (Bills OT) Spencer Brown, but I think he’s better than (Saints first-round OT) Trevor Penning. Gray is a really good athlete, but I think Mauch bent better and was more of a mauler.”

If there was any knock on his game, it was that he wasn’t great at handling stunts, but rival coaches couldn’t stop raving about Zabel.

“He is so good,” said an FCS defensive coordinator who has coached at the major college football level. “He’s extremely athletic and really good in pass stuff. He changes direction so well, is strong, poised and doesn’t get rattled. I think if you have him at center or guard, he’ll be pretty damn salty.”

I don't see anyway this team pays that much money to Banks and drafts a guard in the first round.

Even if that ended up being the right pick it would be viewed the same way Cowboys fans looked at Jerry taking Travis Frederick in the first round years ago. The only way it works out is if Zabel ends up being named to 4-6 pro bowls and stays healthy. Even then you have to hope that all of the WRs, cornerbacks, and pass rushers that go after him fail.

Gute wouldn't take that risk.

What do you guys think about the running backs in this draft? I think RB is pretty deep.

Damien Martinez and Skattebo look like great late round options. Tahj Brooks looks like Josh Jacobs light. I know we drafted Lloyd last year but I just don't trust him to stay healthy and he has issues with fumbling the ball.

This is a great RB class. As someone whose very much into a Dynasty league for fantasy I'm very excited. I'd be pretty surprised if Green Bay took one though. I'm not the biggest fan of Lloyd but I don't think Green Bay will give up on him after a year, plus you have Wilson & Brooks who were solid backups last year. I cant see them adding a 5th guy to seriously compete
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Not the sexy WR/CB pick, but I would dig it.

Such a deep draft at DT. I think we see a double dip there. One early, one mid. Push Wooden this year and help make decisions with Clark and Wyatt next year.

Return to Green Bay Packers
