Absolutely, he turned out to be a real asset. I don't think we even have another punter in camp. Usually you bring another one in just so one guy doesn't have to do all the kicks and in case of injury.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I'm a bite surprised about the releasing of Chillar.

followed by the pack not resigning wilhelm. I like it, always nice for the backup ilbs to be a crop of poor, hungry and determined gentlemen.

Coming off shoulder surgery and now he has a severe hamstring injury. They obviously think he won't be ready for most/all of the season. Since we need every dollar in cap space it was a good move.

It may not be so much this season, but i do expect in time that McCarthy will end up having Williams become a staple of the offense. Love his selection by Ted.

Sam Shields was the player of the game (IMO) in the NFC Championship but I think you could make a case for Masthay as well.

Hey guys, thinking about taking the family to Family Night on Saturday. How do you go about getting tickets, and are there any left? For those that have gone, what kind of stuff is there for kids to do?

Re: Training Camp Thread
Highlights from MM's press conference this morning:
•Had physicals yesterday and conditioning test and was pleased with the results.
•"I think the conditioning is something answered in the next couple of days." Looking for my quality work out of the gate and getting structure right.
•Is more interested in drills being done properly than done a lot. Don't usually do a lot of conditioning so focus will be on hitting times alloted for practice.
•"We have a limited amount of time to get ready for the home opener, so it's important we make use of our practices."
•On hamstring pulls and muscle pulls: It's a fact of life. "The challenge is get the 100 MPH practice day in and day out that gets your team ready for football." The CBA had no affect with this schedule, it's something they came up with in May or June.
•Will have strength and conditioning every day. Can still do walk-throughs in the morning to correct practice mistakes the day before.
•How hard on rookies: "It's going to be a challenge for everybody. It's a challenge we accept as a coaching staff." Young players have been working around the clock since they got here yesterday. Yesterday was administrative stuff, today is all about football. Will day to day make nine installations.
• Camp is a big picture time. Might have to get role specific with young players more than you would in the past.
•"We'll go on the field one time a day." There will be a lift every other day and a regeneration program. That's the first thing everyday. Nine to noon will be correction period in the gymnasium. Then lunch and afternoon segment will all be about installment. Then practice at night.
•Still will be close to the number of plays go through in regular training camp. Taken jog-throughs that usually do on practice and moved them inside.
•Feeling about team: "It's a totally different year for totally different reasons. Change is constant in this business. Change up for veterans will be good for them. Nobody is comfortable." Have to make sure max out opportunities on the field.
• Example of handling success: A quarterback comes in as a developmental player, becomes a starter, needs to stay grounded. Gets a big contract, needs to stay grounded, etc... It's important to stay on top of those things with all players. "They have to remember where they come from."
•Quarterbacks with no off-season: "That's going to be a challenge. It's going to be a challenge for the league, especially the quarterback position. In my opinion, it's the hardest position to play."
• As far as competiiton, feels this training camp will be as challenging as last year.
•On counting on veterans: "It's important to have that leadership. It's not something you say, 'OK we have leadership.' That's a trap. It's a variable of your structure. I look at it as an environmental focus of our locker room."
•On IR players: "There's six guys that are either going through testing and may not go tonight." Elisa Joseph, Andrew Quarless, Dirayl Briggs, Jermichael Finley, Morgan Burnett and Mike Neal.
•Any roster additions expected: We're at 84. There's a lot of conversation (upstairs) that will continue. "I don't know what the end result will be. There's a lot of activity up there."
• On vets being cut: "I don't think anybody liked the way it came down. It's the part of our business. Said goodbye to some good friends. They played excellent football here. That's the part of the business you don't like."
•On winning SB: "It's changed my life as far as people perceive you or interact with you. But it hasn't changed me as a coach. I'm all about this season. It's about the next challenge. I'm a football coach. The excitement for me is to get up in front of the team. Just to get going. It's about Super Bowl XLVI, that's what we're chasing."
•Offensive line is hardest group to rep. Spent a lot of time talking about utilizing reps and incorporating young players. Want best five on the field. If you get an injury, sometimes it's difficult. We don't have the information we normally have.
•About not getting together in off-season: "I was very comfortable with the decision the players made during the off-season. That was a score that we were perceived we were losing. Based on length of season, I spend a lot of time in risk assessment, I'm sure for some teams it was very productive" but based on length of season I'm happy with the way things went.
• "It's a new team. Anybody who thinks last year has anything to do with last year is naive. You have to re-establish yourself every year. That will be our approach."
•ILB depth: "That's a fair question. It's new opportunities. I don't have a lot of information for you on the depth chart. The special teams depth chart is like a merry-go-round."
•Moving OLBs inside: "Absolutely. You're looking at Brad Jones and Robert Francois. Those are the types of things you can do."
• Fun to see guys enjoying fruits of Super Bowl. Stayed up to watch David Letterman for the first time in awhile.
•How do you stay hungry: "If you don't have that, you're going to be on the wayside. It's about climbing and growth and getting better every day. That's a big part of your responsibility finding the pulse of your football team."
•Replacing Colledge: "It's not a one-for-one type answer. We've had a lot of time practicing packages. Competition may look a little different than before. As for who's going to do that, we'll see in the next couple of years.
• "This is a whole new journey. There's a path out there for us to get to Indianapolis."
•Harder on the team: "I think you need to be consistent. I think it's important to tell them that they do it right. That's not going to change."
•What's your last couple of days been like: "It's been hectic. It's been hectic for everybody in the league. It was a long night (with the birth of his daughter Thursday night) Personally... I might start crying up here ... it's been emotional. I need some sleep."

Re: Training Camp Thread
Much appreciated MD and I'm certainly looking forward to reading your thoughts on camp.
Agree with MM 100%, let's maximize the best of what we have by moving Brad Jones to ILB (which btw tells you a lot about the pecking order of the OLBs, looking more and more like it is Zombo/Walden's job to lose with Ricky Elmore being the dark horse.

Re: Training Camp Thread
I'm leaving about 1, love to soak up the atmosphere before practice, eat at Curley's, buy some stuff at the Pro Shop, etc...
As for Family Night, yes tickets are still available, there are some kids things going on but not a whole lot especially for them. The fireworks at the end of the night are pretty good. It's a great chance to be inside Lambeau at a reasonable price. The Hall of Fame will be packed that day but always worth it.
