He's a guy that could really improve his draft stock at the combine. I'd love for GB to grab him in like the 4th round or so.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Possession receivers aren't as valuable as they used to be, but Cephus could be a really good one. He has good hands and he uses his body extremely well to get first downs.

I was optimistic because of the strong wideout class and his mid-round grade from most sites, but not shocked. It still hurts, though. We're losing a LOT of offense.

Best of luck to him. Wouldn't mind seeing him in green and gold at all.

Cephus kinda reminds me of Davante. Love him in round two but I think he goes early to mid R2.

Wow. He'd have a lot of work to do to get that high. The highest I've seen anyone project him in rankings right now is R4.

He'd be great in GB. He's a great run blocker too.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

Don't blame cephus. He is an NFL player and could have used another year but he came back to a unique and probably uncomfortable situation.

From a football standpoint, I think he should've stayed. WR is deep this year, and I think the earliest he will go is the 3rd barring an amazing combine.

From a non-football standpoint, I don't blame him for wanting a fresh start.

I'm not sure there even that big of a difference from a football standpoint. What's his ceiling with another year like the 2nd round? Really not a big difference in money on the rookie deal and by going this year he hits that second contract where you make the real money a year sooner. Plus you avoid the risk you get hurt or suck and drop.

Yeah I think the only way you stay is if you can get in round 1.

I took a middle-of-the-round pick from last year's 2nd and 3rd rounds, and there's over a $2 million difference in guaranteed money. Of course, these will vary depending on position, agent, etc. but that's pretty significant.

He'll be a steal for someone in the mid rounds. Think his game really translates.

I think it's more likely that his numbers at the combine hurt his draft position. He may be a 6th or 7th rounder with as deep as the wr pool is this year. Hopefully he is a combine standout and moves up though. He is gonna be a decent pro.

Dickey, who helped Cephus research his options, said Cephus submitted his paperwork to the NFL Draft Advisory Board. That group offers three evaluations: potential first round pick, potential second round pick or neither, which is essentially a recommendation to remain in school. Dickey said the committee did not give Cephus a first or second round grade.

“Those were done, but those evaluations didn’t really matter,” Dickey said. “This is his plan. If we wouldn’t have had the holdup at school, he would’ve graduated. He basically would have been a senior. I guess he didn’t view himself as an underclassman, that he’s leaving. He’s going to be 22 in April and he’s ready to pursue his dreams.

I'm not 100% sure how this works because I finished undergrad in one trip, but if he tries to play and like flames out of the NFL at age 25 and then plays CFL until he's like 29 and then is done...he can come back and take his 7 classes or whatever he needs to to be done, right? And if so, I'd bet the football ops group helps him through that process...because you want to be able to tell future recruits that you're always there to help them after.

Or if he's just totally done with the city of Madison given the history, he could probably transfer most of his credits somewhere.

Not saying that all players are smart enough to finish what they started if they left early and things fizzled out, but Cephus seems like the type that would do that. I think (?) he was a good student if I remember correctly when he was being aired out/having to defend himself during the court stuff.

It's a bet on yourself that you'll make it to a second contract. If you do, you out earn that difference.

I bet he runs a slightly better than expected 40 (4.6 seconds) and sneaks into the end of 3 to middle of 4. Hope it’s with the packers.

Doesn't hurt to have more options.

They went and got Chris James shortly before Jonathan Taylor's arrival season.

I'm not saying lightning will strike twice but most of you probably don't remember Chris James. They just want to have enough warm bodies to see if they can find the best option. Probably won't be another Jonathan Taylor situation but it also doesn't mean that Berger can't play as a freshman or that Julius Davis can't emerge.
