Rough year but will feel a whole lot better about it if Bucky can bring home Paul Bunyan's Fax.

Rico Hallman getting honored with the seniors on Friday. Probably a good indication he won't be back next season
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Maybe he goes somewhere to rebound after a down year, but he's good enough to be drafted next spring.

I guess it kind of goes hand in hand, but identity talk is dumb, the lack of consistency is the biggest issue. Line play this season has been so bipolar.

The OC job has been officially posted. I'm guessing we get a Pete Thamel leak sometime Sunday

How would the Go Go Offense look here?

That's an interesting question, because while I understand the desire to cut against the grain + "play to your strengths" in Wisconsin...you are probably conceding 2 things:
1. QB/WR will be back to the old days in terms of desirability of coming to Wisconsin. Maybe we should've conceded that anyways, but it's a gamble in the era of a lot of competent opponents on the schedule.
2. You'll need QB depth. An offense that runs your QBs against NFL caliber guys beating the **** out of them means they better have 2-3 guys every year that wouldn't be a disaster if called upon.
Also, bonus:
3. This needs to work very fast or Fickell will get fired. Carter Smith at QB fits the mold, but you're going to have to pick up a bunch of TEs and shift your roster build quickly.

This is why I ask. I imagine that Fick knows who the OC will be and I’m assuming he’s shared that with Smith to secure his commitment. Seems like a prototype QB for Go Go concepts. I think Mettauer could possibly fit it too. Marion is a hot OC name who has performed rapid turn arounds. Just trying to read tea leaves.
I’m also not saying we’d run the full William and Mary version.
But combine multiback downhill running sets with tempo and vertical passing attack. I don’t think the QB “has” to be the main running threat to get it to work. It just helps the versatility. I think our OL would do well in it.

It's fun to watch when it's working...hopefully they have a few veteran QBs lined up that would fit the mold if that's the case.

Re: Badgers Football - Carter Smith Commits
Tangentially related.
I thought it was ridiculous that they didn’t use Evers in short yardage last year. Especially once Mordecai went down. Like say, end of the 1st half vs OSU.
Have literally 3-4 plays that he’d be responsible for knowing on 3rd or 4th and 1 or 2. Mainly just to have to account for him defensively. Like put one QB keep on zone read or naked bootleg for 30 yards on film really stops edges from crashing down too hard in all future games.
Then, in a key moment, let him do a jump pass to a TE or something semi creative.
I dunno. Just seemed like a wasted opportunity to be diverse.

Re: Badgers Football - Carter Smith Commits
This is interesting considering Florida St was reportedly the other team targeting Brennan Marion from UNLV

Marion's bio is amazing. Since 2011 he's been at 12 spots. 2024 was only the second time he spent a second season at a stop.

Re: Badgers Football - Carter Smith Commits
I'm not sure Marion wants an OC job. He's probably targeting a HC gig.
Relatedly, the rumors about Ryan Day have me wondering if Fickell will try to use an escape hatch and get out. The shine is off him, but it would be his dream gig and OSU might talk themselves into bringing him home.
Which, if that's true, Marion might have a HC gig waiting for him here.

Ohio State fans would absolutely riot.

Player who didn't play disgruntled on his way out. Shocking.
