Favre has been a prima-donna during this whole fiasco, but if this is true, the Packers front office is a **** joke. Regardless of how/when this gets resolved, this season has become a nightmare.

Idiocy all around.

I don't get why the Packers have been so scared from the get-go. If they want Favre to return as a backup, let him return as a backup. Who cares what the media says? Who cares about the fan uproar? Have the balls to back up your decisions. Whatever distractions might occur is FAR better than what's going on right now.

And so who told TMJ4 about this bribe? A Favre source. So this means Favre told somebody about this. That's not cool at all. Between this and his wanting to be a Viking, I might have to say goodbye to my allegiance to him. And that's the saddest thing ever.

it's time to just end this, if theyve "moved on with rodgers" and DO IT, dont be so scared to let him go

Unfortunately it's too late for Harlan to do anything. I have no doubt he would have resolved this well before camp started, one way or another.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I would love to know who's idea this was....crazy....just crazy.

Doesn't he have enough money? Since it is over several years, I am sure Brett could put a sweaty amount of cash in a CD and do the same thing.

They could have at least offered him a really nice tractor, something not even on the market yet. McCarthy keeps pimping Kobotas, maybe he has some pull.

Just stupid. I agree with everyone that Harlan never would have let this happen. We need to get help in here, ASAP.

If this is true, and I can't confirm, but if the board thought this was a good idea.....but having Moss here last year was bad....

Bob Harlan was the long time president of the Packers. He retired earlier this year and Murphy took over. Had he still be in charge I have no doubt this would have been over a long time ago. As soon as Favre said he wanted to come back Harlan would have taken Favre and Thompson into a room and the 3 of them would have stayed there until a resolution was hashed out.

Report: Packers consider sending Favre to division rival

The Green Bay Packers, unable so far to trade Brett Favre and facing his arrival at training camp, are reportedly considering taking a step they desperately wanted to avoid: dealing him to a division rival.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, citing a source close to the situation, on Wednesday reported the Packers were considering seeking a deal with one of their rivals, most likely the Minnesota Vikings or Chicago Bears, if all else fails.

That follows reports that the Packers on Wednesday offered Favre a substantial sum of money -- as much as $20 million over several years -- to stay retired.

On Monday, Packers general manager Ted Thompson said the Packers would not trade Favre within the NFC North. Favre, who has asked the NFL to be reinstated, is reportedly interested in playing for the Vikings, who play the Packers to open their season on Monday Night Football on Sept. 8.

I am 100% completely done with the entire Packers front office if the bribe reports are true and/or they trade him to the Vikings. DONE.

I've been on TT's side through all of this, but this is absolutely ridiculous.

I honestly think TT will get legitimate death threats or even an attempt on his life if all these reports are true. And no, I'm not kidding.

No matter what, Sept 8 should be really entertaining. The only thing is I think fans would rather lineup against favre then some of the packers. It seems like AK and Driver are still on Favre's side.

You don't trade him to Minnesota, I'm sorry. You give your biggest division threat an upgrade at their weakest position, and the media circus if you trade him to Minny is JUST AS BAD as it would be if he was in camp. That would be by far, IMO, the most bizarre and moronic end to all of this that I can think of. A trade to Minny had better not happen.

Not to mention an upgrade with a California style forest fire lit under his ass. I said it a couple of days ago and now I'm even more convinced that this is the beginning of the end for Thompson. He had all the leverage in the world and he's botched this thing so bad that he's gonna have no choice but to trade him to the Vikings. MASSIVE FAIL on his part.......and Murphy too for that matter.

This might be the biggest come from behind victory in Bretts career. :nonono:
F*** Marc Davis, f*** Tim Donaghy and f*** David Stern as a staff, record label and as a mothaf**kin crew......and if you wanna be down with Stern then F*** YOU TOO!!! Stu Jackson f*** you too.....all you mothaf**kas F*** YOU TOO!!!!

IDK, they pack lose either way, but I see it as 50/50 that Favre would help the vikings. It could be Celtic situation or it could be a Payton/Malone situation. Vikings camp could be just as bad with Favre there and everyone putting pressure on him. I could see Favre trying too much and hurting them instead of just handing off to AP

Nah. Jackson is a horrible QB. He's the only thing keeping them from really being a contender. You DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES give your division rival a major upgrade at QB.

If a trade to Minny happens, I will be 100% on the "fire everyone in the front office immediately" bandwagon.

Agreed. We can look at the past few weeks and see the dumb mistakes that have been made both by Favre and by the organization. But trading him to Minnesota would top all that times 100.

Although how wild would the opening game be with Brett in a purple helmet at Lambeau? It would probably set a ratings record for a regular season game.

Exactly. With the dome in Minnesota, he could play there for a few more seasons. not just haunt us for 2 games but possibly 6 or more as well as possible playoff matchups.

Oh, it would be huge for the NFL. It would also help the Vikings tremendously in their push for a new stadium. I'd hate to see such a good rival move to a different state/division.

Of course, that is no reason for the Packers to do it. Just collatoral benefits.

It just comes down to this: Ted Thompson and the Packers' organization can't have it both ways. They can't control AND cash-in off of Favre's legacy.

It's either control his legacy by keeping him as an active member of the Packers organization - and deal with all that entails. Or, cash-in off his legacy by trading him to the only team he'll agree to go to. Or, they could do neither, and come out of the situation with empty, yet clean hands.

But yeah, I agree with all of the above that this recent move by the Packers' organization was a terrible one.

Speaking of how the NFL benefits from this, the momentum really started shifting Favre's way when Goodell butted his nose in where it didn't belong at this point. Not to shift any of the blame from the Packers FO for the idiocy of yesterday's events but it really pissed when Goodell got involved. Where was he when Chad Johnson was asking to be traded or released? So what if we make Favre wait longer than he wants to? He's made us wait for 5 fricken years!
