Re: ATL: Offseason
Anyone see the article on 5th year seniors/graduates on rosters of good teams? Sort of an interesting correlation.
Also, I saw that 1/3 of the underclassmen who left early went undrafted.
What's the track record for our draft class?

Good thing Jerruh was busy drafting elite interior offensive linemen the past few offseasons.

Re: ATL: Offseason
So it's seems like the nfl really wants a team in London. I think it's a silly idea for a few reasons.
But if they are hell bent on going global and they do eventually want to expand the schedule so why not combine the idea. Go to a 17 game schedule with 2 byes and every team plays a neutral site game with a bye afterwards. You could put 4-8 games in London, maybe do a couple in Mexico City and even play some us neutral sites like the rose bowl. Wouldn't that be the best compromise all around if they insist on expanding the brand.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

It appears we've learned the identity of Jermichael Finley's "mystery team."
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports that Finley visited with the New England Patriots on Friday, according to a source informed of the situation.
ESPN's Adam Caplan had the first report of Finley's visit.
The news comes on the same day we learned the Seattle Seahawks have dropped out of the chase for the tight end, who is attempting to make a return from a serious neck injury suffered last October. Finley's doctor said last week that the tight end has gained full medical clearance after spinal fusion surgery.
A (healthy) pairing of Rob Gronkowski and Jermichael Finley could be the making of a dynamic 1-2 punch in Foxborough. New England has lacked depth at the position since Aaron Hernandez's legal problems yanked him out of the NFL.
It all goes back to the medicals, and whether Finley can convince the Patriots -- or any NFL team -- to take a chance on him.

"Aaron Hernandez's legal problems" like, he didn't pay his parking tickets or something.

Love the CK deal. Now, the 49ers will find out how hard it is to build a team with a QB getting BIG money.

I can't believe San Fran gave that much money to Kaepernick.

Re: ATL: Offseason
I think there's a decent chance they'll end up regretting this deal. Kaepernick has big boom-bust potential long term, especially with his injury-prone style of play. He's not an elite passer (though he's getting better in some ways), and I don't think he's a consistently good decision maker. So, he could flame out in a Culpepper-esque fashion.
But I don't blame the 49ers for making this deal.

My initial thought as well.

Re: ATL: Offseason
Now we just need Wilson to get a monster deal and things will be looking good in the NFC.

Re: ATL: Offseason
Next offseason Wilson's will be a formality unless Seattle goes real rogue. Just looking at the cap situations I think both teams will feel it for the 2015 season. Seattle is constructed where it's going to hit them right around then and SF probably has a year of breathing room here before guys start leaving town.

Re: ATL: Offseason
Looks like this is a really team-friendly deal for the 49ers:
