Another lively first day of FA for the Pack. I am at the edge of my seat!

I haven't seen a single player/contract that has caused me any serious disappointment at the lack of involvement from the Packers. Malik Jackson got a relatively reasonable deal from Philly and that is the one player we've been reported as being involved with so far.

Is this NFL FA period taking on the contract craziness of the NBA of a couple of years ago? Where stupid spending still haunts the teams that overspent?

This happens every year. It's why alot of us advocate to stay away from day one guys. The money that's spent on day one 8s just too crazyTreebeard wrote:RRyder823 wrote:You mean like every other NFL offseason for the teams that overspent on day one?Treebeard wrote:Is this NFL FA period taking on the contract craziness of the NBA of a couple of years ago? I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I'm convinced that the way to kill yourself in free agency is those guys in the 8-14 mil range.
Leveon bell at 20 mil a year (which he probably gets) is too much, but at a minimum you get a guaranteed impact and difference maker for that money.
You can also pay Cobb and Graham that same amount combined, and get literally nothing.
When you get above $15 mil it's GENERALLY for guys who obviously deserve it. Unless they're one of the first 3 signings of the year (see Malik Jackson / Oliver Vernon).
And those middle priced guys - you never have a quick enough trigger to move on from them. Graham only costs us what $8 mil this year - he was injured last year, had a good attitude (NO HE F"ING LOST A STEP AND SUCKS BECAUSE OF THAT).
New England isn't out signing guys in that 8-14 mil range. They're going bargain shopping for numbers figuring some of these guys are gonna hit.

Graham never a "middle priced guy"
We made him the highest paid TE in the league

LOL that's no where near true. They only guaranteed him $11 million. 13th in the NFL.

Do you enjoy picking out individual sentences from entire statements to disagree with? I can't understand the enjoyment of that

I'd take a flyer on Mark Ingram over Le'veon Bell for what the money may be.

We have very different definitions of "no where near true"
Highest salary cap value + highest base= highest paid TE (apparently not to you)
From week 1 to week 17 no TE made more money last year. How exactly is this an "lol" moment?

Re: 2019 Packers Off Season Thread - Interest in Dee Ford
What does Ingram do that Jones / Williams can't?
I just think Bell does something for this offense that you can't find at any other position in free agency.
Give him 20 mil for 4 years. Cut Perry / Graham, still leaves you 16 mil. Go defense heavy in the draft and try to find some lower end bargains in the FA pile.
And next year leaves you 56 mil to resign Clark and Martinez and whatever else you want
