Glad we won, but it’s more obvious the first few games are basically the new preseason. I get that these games count, but basically coaches are using the first couple of games as tune-ups because this has been some ugly football.

Either way, we are 2-0

Around 20 seconds.

Typically, a Vikings offense needs two minutes on the clock. Bunch of bone heads.

Just watched both Saints and Houston engineer scoring drives with less then 20 seconds last week. I think it was ten points scored in the final 34 seconds or something.

One of the more frustrating wins to sit through. Looking ahead, it doesn't make me look forward to playing them at their place.

The low key story might be that Cousins may have fallen off a cliff. 13 for 31 with that running game is pathetic. Or maybe it's our D?

Brad Jones? Ahmad Carrol? Dom Capers?

I feel like Jones was at least a serviceable but below average ILB. Davis is basically a returner in a league where returning the ball is at an all time low.

Pre extension I would agree.

Actually I feel good. The defense looked legit again today. Holding them to 16 points, and one was a long run, the other was a long pass that couldve been intercepted. Feel better winning this way, vs winning offensive shootouts. The offense will come around. It's just Week 2 with a new coach and system.

Like I said in the other thread, the top PPG defense in the league gave up 17 a game last year. We gave up 16. We were opportunistic, though Jaire Alexander pretty much let them into the game by himself. I think it is funny that Trevor Davis gets a ton of hate even though we blocked their gunners on maybe 1 punt all day, and that play was a hold and he baited a, just incredibly stupid, unnecessary roughness. If I had to pick someone with an inexplicably long leash, it would be Lane Taylor.

Defense still looks good. Hoping Raven Greene doesn't miss too much time but guys on radio say it could be a dislocation. He's a big part of our sub LB packages.

If Alexander just knocks the ball away (which is all he needed to do because it was 3rd and long) we give up 10 points and Cousins would've been 13-32 for 185 yards, 0 TDs and 2 INTs. We also dropped at least one more INT and maybe more that I can't remember right now. Also did a fairly good job of keeping Cook in check outside of the 75 yard run. Outside of that 19 carries for 79 yards.

I think the defense is legitimately good.

Will be interesting to see how much of this is Trubisky and Cousins being bad vs. our D making QBs look bad.

Cousins definitely isn't a bad QB.

Last year, he averaged 383.5 yards per game against the Packers with a 7-1 TD/INT ratio.

I think it'll lean towards our D being good this year, making QB's look worse than they are. Gute made all the right moves this off-season on that side of the ball. Our front 7 is garnering a ton of pressure from every direction, and we have safeties that can cover and a healthy Kevin King. Just need to stay healthy. I think that Raven Greene injury will be bigger than realized considering his importance in sub LB packages.

To be fair, Alexander had 3 pick balls thrown to him, and he came away with none of them. Diggs caught one for a touchdown, Thielen caught one for a first down, and he just flatly dropped the 3rd. Kirk Cousins could have easily thrown 5 interceptions today. The defense is legitimate.

D played good outside of two plays.

Offense after the 1st quarter showed it's still a work in progress.

Next week will probably more of the same but if the offense can work out the kinks it looks like we'll be in good shape

That is a good point to talk to Miami about some players.
What about Kenyan Drake too? I get we have RBs but if he comes cheap with a WR might ne worth a shot.

Even if the Packer's defense is just good enough to make bad quarterbacks look bad, it will be an improvement over what we've seen over the past few seasons lol. I think our D is legit, my worry is can we score enough points to beat a team with a legit QB.

Parker has been trash since he came into the league. I'd be interested in Drake as another back, but not a priority.

We've always made bad QBs look bad. It was our inability to make good-great QBs look average once in awhile that killed us.

Man, some of you are pretty negative. If you didn’t see the game and read this thread you’d think we’re complete garbage. The other team is getting paid too, and they don’t suck.

I get the frustration over the offense going cold but we don’t ignore the fact that they scored the first 3 times they touched the ball against a good defense. I always thought the offense was going to take time to gel and they showed some extremely promising flashes. They will improve. And the defense is legit.

A couple flukey plays on D. A couple flukey turnovers on offense.

This team is really **** good amd they're going to get better. Just gotta stay healthy.
