Gee maybe it's not such an awesome plan to have a 1st round QB sit for 3 years :)

That's not at all what the article said.

The Packers are in a good spot. They've got Love at a minuscule cap number next season. If they like someone next April, they can take and sit him for a year. If Love turns the corner then they can extend him and trade the rookie.
No not what the article said, it's what I've been saying for 3+ years now. It's was an assinne plan with such a slim chance of actually working.

It was a great plan that isn't working out yet.

Yeah we'll just have to agree to disagree on that. I hope Love ends up great but I'll never agree with the strategy to make that pick that year.

I'm not totally out on Love. I think some of his struggles right now are young QB ****. Part of my optimism is I don't think sitting does much for development, they need the live game experience. But anyone who's a strong believer in that sitting development plan should probably be really down on him.

Because frankly if this is the good version from developing for 3 years then he must have been so bad coming in he shouldn't have been a first rounder.

There's a world out there where Love's throwing to Davante Adams, Bakhtiari is keeping him clean, Aaron Jones is having a pro-bowl type season, he's got All-Pros in front of him with Landon Dickerson and Creed Humphrey, and Watson/Doubs are healthy and in their proper roles. Unfortunately Love's just in a really tough spot where the vets he does have have been injured, the young guys haven't taken leaps, and the picks around him haven't been great.

But by 2025 he'll have two years worth of starts and the Packers can make a proper decision. We'll see.

It's hilarious to see every single fanbase use the same sorry excuses for their young QB underperforming. "We need to surround him with more talent, give him a better O-line, a real no.1 receiver, his play caller is trash." Sure, lets build a team of superstars around a trash QB so he can hold them back, what could possibly go wrong?

I sure as chit don't remember anyone here giving Fields for example the same excuse, rightfully so btw and poor Fields didn't even have the luxury of having a genius offensive mind coaching him up and calling plays so what changed?

Fields was just one example so don't skip the rest of my post if you plan on responding.

Who gives a **** what we (a fanbase naturally inclined to trash the Bears) think about Fields? His fan base loved him. So did their organization, which is why they went out and actually traded for a #1 wide receiver, spent a top ten pick on a left tackle, and signed a $30 million guard.

"Proceeds to focus on Fields and ignore the rest of my post"

As I said, Fields was just one example and I agreed and still agree with every single bit of criticism directed at him. My point was to not give your QB the excuses you wouldn't give to other QBs.

All this nonsense about everything having to be borderline perfect in order to evaluate your QB is just that, nonsense.
Reminds me of the delusion NBA fans have about their rookies. "He defense is already so good, just wait till he develops his offense (even though he has none right now)'" or "He's already great now, when he gets a jumpshot(despite being a historically bad shooter), it's over."

Nobody is saying everything has to be borderline perfect. Maybe just not objectively terrible?

Sure as hell wasn't terrible throughout the whole season and the only impressive thing we've seen so far from Love was the winning drive against the Saints and that's with us mostly going up against average/bad defenses. Everything else Love has done so far this season has been forgettable and I'm being nice.

Of course the young group around him will impact how the O looks in general. This is an area the coaches will have a much better perspective than us fans because they actually know what was supposed to happen on a play and can tell on tape who **** up. There are definitely some wrong routes and **** happening out there. So it is possible they are grading love higher than it looks to us. But I do think some of the missed targets are on Jordan.

I also think most QBs who are good enough to actually matter can preform when conditions around them aren't ideal.

I agree with that.

I don't think Love has been good and I thought there would be more flashes. But every unit on offense is absolutely below average. WRs, TEs, RBs and line. That can't be argued.

O-line has been very up and down but I wouldn't call it below average. The 1st game against the Bears where Love had all day to throw against a terrible defense and wasn't the tiniest bit impressive imo which proved to be a pattern is a big part of why I wasn't high on him or his hot start. The 2nd tweet is from some Bears hater but most of the numbers he posted check out so the pressures are probably correct as well.

Yea, man. Love hasn't been good. That sucks.

But at least they aren't locked into a huge deal or committed to him as a top five pick for the next four years. They even got Love to sign a dumb team friendly contract.

Things are fine.

Nah man, we slowly pushed out an all time great QB and simultaneously "looked toward the future" and here we are 3 years later with a dumpster fire? I wouldn't call that "fine." I'd call that gross mismanagement.

It's pretty outrageous to call it a 'great plan that hasn't worked out yet.' That's some Hammonds Jurrassic Park circa 2013 stuff.

I agree. Looking back, they should have traded Rodgers for an insane package of picks.

That said, getting what they did for a guy who fell off a cliff was still pretty solid.

Does the way this team looks now compared to last year with him in the fold STILL scream that he "fell off a cliff?" Or was Rodgers just that good to keep this mess together?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there is nuance at play, and a lot of that isn't measured in a box score.

Love never was the guy and MLF/Gute/Murphy need to be fired for it end of story, I haven't seen the brain or the arm talent and they staked everything on him. I feel bad for Love they set him up to fail this bad, its digusting. 2 full years will be absolute torture. Ring of Shame for these losers especially Gute.

I mostly agree with what you're saying. But I think our fans are grossly underestimating just how bad the team conditions are right now.

The pass blocking hasn't been great, and three of our four leading pass catchers by snap count are rookies. Don't forget we have AJ Dillon as our starting RB. I seriously doubt even a superstar QB would look good with this group.
