Bakhtiari contract is now officially the worst in Green Bay Packers history. Makes the Joe Johnson contract look like a steal. This completely wastes any cap space Packers have during the last few years of Rodgers career.

3rd contracts always make me nervous but I guess I can’t blame them for giving it out he hadn’t shown much for slow down prior. Two weeks later and Bak may never have gotten another big contract. Lucky timing for him horrendous for the Packers. Adams could have easily fit within cap without that albatross Bak deal.

Is there any way to remove his dead cap space? I mean, NBA had some things like this when it was a career-ending injury, which might be the case for Bak. Not sure if there is something like in the NFL, obviously he would get the money (via insurance), but at least his salary wouldn't count.

Not only this, but maybe if he wasn't injured, we could have another SB by now.

It made sense at the time - one more contract to get him through his prime years. The ACL was a freak thing and the way his body has responded wasn't predictable.

Hopefully it's just out an abundance of caution and he hasn't had another major setback.

Boy, I hope that's the case, but I'm getting the impression that none of them really know. LaFleur (and others) use a lot of qualifying words when describing the situation - "hope', "maybe", etc. I won't call them weasel words, as I don't believe there's intent to deceive, just a lot of uncertainty.

We too can hope, I guess. Maybe....

A freak injury doesn't make it the worst contract in history.

Correct. He was elite and in his prime when the deal was made. Packers fans and Rodgers would’ve blown a gasket had they let him go.

Cletidus Hunt, Joe Johnson, KGB, Turd Ferguson were all far worse. Can’t remember if they gave him a new deal as part of the trade, but Terry Glenn comes to mind as well.

Amari Rodgers down to 202lbs…hope the kid can put it all together this year. Would be a nice boost to get the player we thought we were drafting.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.
