I am now the Fickell apologist - obviously something like the LT, while very important, is something you're going to have to deal with at times.

Still, this string of luck of losing the starter at the most important positions really sucks. The guy is probably going to get fired and we'll never really get to see what they could've been. Maybe Heywood this year is the difference between 6-6 and 5-7, but it's adding up over the years here.

I hate to make generalizations, but these kids are soft as hell.

Leaving during spring ball is funny. They get a week of practice in and they're like nope, not for me...

They might be...but you only get 4 (or 5-6?) years to make your mark.

I guess for guys like Koziol or Hamper, maybe it's a sign that they're never making it to the big $$$ conferences or ultimately the NFL, but I'm not sure I blame them for trying to find somewhere where they can play so that they can cash in or maybe find their way to a shot at the NFL one day.

Until the system changes (I continue to believe there is not motivation for all parties yet to do so) - it's an open market and everyone is basically shuffling around the country to find the most money and best chance to showcase their talents.

This is a normal thing nowadays - so I don't blame Fickell at all for "losing" these guys that likely are not good enough for this level.

My once concern is that we are in the 1-2 year window of The Great Overcompensation of the ceremonial firing of Mac and Fickell, which will include weekly emails and outreach programs to the track and field program/women's basketball and only filling the football staff/roster with people born in Wisconsin.

With this short window that Fickell needs to win, that we're still searching for a depth of guys to fill the 2 deep that are legit...we're running out of time.

Fickell isn't getting fired.

Has been discussed on here a lot...I don't think so - but less than 5 wins this season may do it. Or missing a bowl again will basically have him considering leaving in 2026 or on fire watch if things don't look good in October.

Both of those scenarios I'd be fine with - I just don't think it's going to get any better if they fire Fickell, so I want this to work so I am not waiting 3 years to find out the next guy also can't win anywhere close to old standards in this new system.

When free agency started in the NFL, doomers were screaming that it would be the end of the sport. THIS current situation may actually end up being the end of college football.

I still maintain it sucks quite possibly the most for Wisconsin and what we enjoyed for 30 years, but people are still watching.

Even if Nico was a bit mid as a freshman and therefore not a massive blow to Tennessee, I will say that if stuff like that keeps happening, maybe it will start to piss off enough fans and coaches, I dunno.

Seems like with that last sentence that he'll be back in some other capacity pretty soon.

Return to Green Bay Packers
