Can definitely see the gamesmanship in play in not tipping your hand.

23. Green Bay Packers: Will Johnson, CB, Michigan
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Johnson go as high as No. 11 to the 49ers, but he might still be on the board in the 20s. He declined to run the 40-yard dash at his pro day and the medicals will be a factor for several teams, but the tape shows a really good football player.

54 Packers Darius Alexander DT Toledo
87 Packers Elic Ayomanor WR Stanford
124 Packers Barryn Sorrell Edge Texas
159 Packers Joe Huber G/C Wisconsin
198 Packers Thomas Fidone II TE Nebraska
237 Packers (from PIT) Jamon Dumas-Johnson LB
250 Packers* Kurtis Rourke QB

Hard to quibble with a mock where we get one of my three favorite players down at 23, but I think the rest of the class is a little uninspiring.

If the board fell that way I'd go:

54 - JT Tuimoloau EDGE
87 - Ashton Gillotte EDGE
124 - JJ Pegues DT
159 - Malachi Moore DB
198 - Dont'e Thornton Jr. WR
237 - Jack Nelson - OL
250 - Kurtis Rourke QB

I would have done almost exactly what you picked.

Only thing I might do differently is Jaylin lane over Pegues. But I agree there is a need for DT and would not be against that since most of the ones I liked were drafted earlier. I will be honest I don't know much about Darius Alexander so he will be the next prospect I will research.

Still don't think I'd take the chance. Maybe if he's there late Day 3 I'd think about it, but these situations/scandals with players lately tend to end up being true. Don't want to judge him too early, but not a great situation for the kid.

Current betting odds on the Packers pick

Defensive Lineman/Edge +110
Cornerback +175
Offensive Lineman +500
Wide Receiver +700
Linebacker +3000
Safety +5000
Tight End +5000
Running Back +8000
Quarterback +10000
Specialist +30000
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I think it's fun they are having a lot of former Badgers announcing picks

Fun watch. But Tunsil is the biggest WTF moment ever and it's not on the list.

A pretty good discussion starting at the 30:00 mark regarding where the Packers rank as drafters

Long story short they think the Packers are good at drafting(in the 3rd tier of teams behind Baltimore & Detroit) but that their 1st round has been iffy

Breer:

Michigan CB Will Johnson has a knee issue that’s been flagged. It shouldn’t affect him in the short term, but teams are concerned it could impact his longevity. Add to the questions on Johnson’s long speed, which were not allayed when he decided not to run a 40, and the Wolverine star could slide.

• Georgia edge rusher Mykel Williams had just a so-so workout last week and told teams he wasn’t at his best because an ankle injury from the fall hampered him a little.

Alabama LB Jihaad Campbell had shoulder surgery after the combine, and teams are projecting him as a candidate to start the season on PUP. Campbell is a bit beat up in the same sort of way that some Crimson Tide players who went through Nick Saban’s program have been in the past.

Ouch.

Good video. A handful of people didn't understand the assignment, but some interesting sleepers in here.

Final prediction feels more like a we trade back and probably completely out of round 1. I want 1 of 3 WRs tho: Tmac, Luther or Egbuka and I’m good regardless what happens.

Of the reported Top 30 visits, here's my guess as to the preference between guys who visited:

1 - Tetairoa McMillan
2 - Shemar Stewart
3 - Walter Nolen
4 - Mykel Williams
5 - Matthew Golden
6 - Trey Amos
7 - Emeka Egbuka
8 - James Pearce, Jr
9 - Josh Simmons
10 - Shavon Revel Jr.

I would agree with this. Although Nolen is interesting because he's exclusively a 3 tech guy and would seemingly overlap a lot with Wyatt. I'm pretty confident if any of Stewart, Tet, or Mykel are there at 23 that they will be the pick

Nolen seems like a much better run defender than Wyatt no?

I think Stewart is the guy they hope falls. Listening to some people talk about him I'd be very happy picking him now.

8 - Ashton Jeanty - RB
9 - Derrick Harmon - DL
10 - Mike Green - Edge
11 - Walter Nolen - DL
12 - Jihaad Campbell - LB
13 - Nick Emmanwori - DB
14 - Kenneth Grant - DL
15 - Trey Amos - CB
16 - Malachi Starks - DB
17 - Donovan Ezeiruaku - Edge
18 - Matthew Golden - WR

**** it, trade the farm for Hunter. He covers two of the pack’s biggest needs. I don’t think they’d ever get that aggressive but he’s a generational talent and it would be fun. Would make an immediate impact on both sides of the ball and be on his rookie contract for Love’s prime. What could go wrong?

Instead I’m fully expecting another athlete with meh college production that ain’t helping much years 1 and 2.

Pretty close. Seems like me and you always seem to agree on most every year. I think Mason Graham is overrated and I don't see him as a top 10 pick. Everyone else does so I must be missing something. I personally don't even have Graham in my top 30. I like Grant more than Graham. Said the same thing about the OSU edge rushers when Sawyer was being ranked above Tuimoloau but that has fixed itself.

Emmanwori, Golden, Egbuka, and Watts I would move up a little. I am actually hoping we can land Watts in the second round, he is so overlooked imo.

A few guys I would put on my top 30 you don't have: James Pearce (top ten), Azareye'h Thomas/Jayden Higgins/Arroyo/Omarion Hampton (mid to late twenties).

I don't know how to feel about guys like Mykel Williams and Shemar Stewart. On one hand I am tired of drafting guys like this, on the other hand if we pass on them and they become elite I will be irritated the one year we passed on a guy like that we made the mistake.
