Is it MLF losing the whole team or only Barry losing the defense? I think (or would like to think) it's the latter. My picture of practice and meetings is Barry showing a scheme and going,"We all clear when we see this formation now?" And then everyone being like, "Yeah yeah, we got it. Whatever." It's gotta be hard for players to keep plugging away when you can see the plays and scheme you're running are losing ones--three years losing, now. At least on offense, you have success week by week and it's been years of success.

Without knowing the full details none of know who's to blame. It's a bad look for the coaches but it's also possible Jaire is completely in the wrong.

The fact the O doesn't seem to be having these issues could mean it's more Barry than MLF but again who knows.

By the way, as much as I'm skeptical of Jaire, I will say that there were clearly times he was right about Barry. For example, I could be remembering the details and dates wrong, but I'm pretty sure Justin Jefferson lit them up in game 1 last year and there was so much pressure on Barry to let Jaire cover him 1-on-1 that he actually relented and it went very well. It should have been the most obvious move ever, but Barry is guilty of not playing to his personnel's strengths, and that's a textbook example.

That's not really relevant to Jaire's complaints this year though, as he's been straight-up bad more often than not, at least on the rare occasions that he's played. And it's no excuse for his antics last week.

This is where I'm at. Jaire hasn't been all that impactful for a couple years now and I think he knows it. In turn, he's compensating by acting like he's still the player he once was, but the act is giving off serious d-bag vibes. I can stand the attitude if his on-field play backs it up, but it's not.

Maybe we're waiting till just before the Bears game to **** can Barry so that we get some of that residual post-firing-energy going into the playoffs? Idk, I'm just looking for silver linings with the defense at this point. I'm almost never a fan of mid-season firings, but you can certainly argue that keeping him even these last 2-3 games is actively hurting your team and the development of the young guys. Like, I'm not under any illusion that Jerry Montgomery is gonna fix any of this stuff, but he could at least provide that short-term morale boost simply by "not being Joe Barry". It can't get any worse.

The sad thing is that his trade value has plummeted this year. His production is down and he looks like a headcase.
