Got a little but more time to think about this.

1. Love. Did they have to trade a 4th? I see the potential so lets say fine. Didnt think it was necessary because that 4th couldve been valuable. Fine. Who cares. I give it a pass. Because Love has potential.

Edit: with Love, felt like a best available pick.

2. AJ Dillion. I get it. Like the player. However this was not the best available and i wouldve risked waiting until 3rd round for him. Because guess what? Yes, both our best RBs are on contract years. Makes sense. However if they lose a RB next year, draft an RB next year in high rounds. This was a need pick for Lafleurs system.

3. LMAO Josiah? Or something like that. I get the player. I get it for the systsm. Not in the 3rd where we couldve gotten something else......again a need pick for the run system.

5-7. I get every pick. Great developmental picks.

What happened with rounds 2 and 3 is beyond me. They drafted players to work in there system. They didnt draft best available. They drafted players for the run system but they could've done in next year if they miss on these guys because they don't look special enough to reach on.

This would've been a fine draft if it was WR or ILB or something else. Best available because thats what everyone else around us was doing.

The back of the draft was solid. We're able to add depth.

What if Jordan Love is the next Patrick Mahomes and the 3 OL in the 6th form his line? It doesn't depend on any specific pick.

That said, we passed on IMO, a blue-chip tackle (Jones) that fell to the 2nd, and didn't move up and grab a wideout. Arguably reached on the only two skill position players we drafted. I guess they must have confidence that one of MVS/EQ/Sternberger/Lazard are gonna develop into a legit play-maker. Hard to grade this without knowing for likely the next 2-3 years whether Love is a home-run or not.

C+

That's what I keep coming back to. If they really believe in Sternberger as the TE, view Funchess as a legit contributor, and really like one of Lazard/EQ more than we think, then I can't blame them for not grabbing a WR late.

We were begging for it, but if all the WR left on their board after the top guys would come in as the 6th/7th WR then I can't blame them for shoring up other areas with guys they obviously like more.

Mahomes is also playing for a HOF coach, with elite targets in Hill, and Kelce.

Let’s pump the breaks on the outlandish what if comparisons.

I realize these guys aren’t perfect but Packers had the worst graded draft and not even close.

Ha, this is like the third 2021 Mock I've read this hour. One of them had Micah Parsons slide past the Packers in the 20s. If that happened I'd personally burn Lambeau to the ground. He's my 3rd best prospect in the class.

you're high if you think we're taking a WR next year

Parsons is an inside linebacker.

I'm fine with liking our receivers we have, at least on the outside, especially if they can block.

But its almost impossible to say we couldn't use a slot with speed. Regardless of system you go 3wr in the NFL a pretty fair amount, the only exception being the Niners versus us, where there's no need.

This was a prime draft to get one, and its crazy how we didn't prioritize it at all. Be different if we had a TE to stretch the field, but even if Jace develops I don't think we do, at least that well.

I think there's a decent chance they still bring in a slot receiver at some point this off-season. With all the wrs drafted yesterday some teams are going to have a surplus.

They might also plan on using Jones and even Ervin in that role some. While he's not your typical slot wr body type that's where they used ESB as a rookie so maybe they think that's the answer.

Now I know I'm probably in the minority but I actually do think they are fine on the outside. I wouldn't have been opposed to adding a talent like Mims or Pitman but I didn't think it would have really been a 'need' pick.

Hopefully this wasnt meant for my comment. It would have been nice to not use a 4th, no? Either way. We picked who we thought was best available so im right in the middle regarding the 4th pick.

It's a potential franchise QB. That's clearly how they see it. If you only have to give up a 4th to ensure you get a franchise quarterback, that's a no brainer. Particularly when behind sit a number of teams that are probably interested in jumping you for that guy.

Once they locked in on Love, it would have been gross incompetence to just sit back and hope for the best.

“______ would’ve been available in the ______ round.”

No credibility when you post stuff like this. You have no damn clue. That’s why GM’s have their draft boards. I’ll go ahead and trust an nfl front office over internet message board member.

This is where I stand, I am not saying I am certain Love is a franchise QB, but it seems clear as day our GM and coach sure think he has that potential. And if he does, I am not sweating Bryce Hopkins TE out of Purdue which is who went in that pick (not saying it is who we would have taken)

With Hopkins, it's all about setting the proper
expectations. If you're looking for a run blocker, look
elsewhere. If you're looking for a chain-mover, look
elsewhere. If you're looking for a security-blanket, look
elsewhere. If you want a downfield threat at the tight end
position, you've found your guy. He gets to the second
level of the defense as well as any tight end in this draft
class. Will he always haul in the easy ones? No, but he'll
make plays few other tight ends in this class are capable
of making as well.

I.e. everyone stop giving your opinion on a sports message board.

Please delete the thread we have to agree with every pick.

I guess it's the narrative of two extremes that I just roll my eyes at. "He'll be a 10 year starter, or he'll be a bust". What if he turns into a Dalton lol

The FO must've loved him so that's good enough for me. i just hate that we'll most likely be wasting his rookie deal,
