Like, it's a 7th round pick so no great loss, but what was the thought process here? Clifford is awful with zero upside.

Yea that's what I don't understand. You can't tell me they really think Clifford has more upside than Pratt and Clifford was straight up garbage in the preseason. Pratt was always a developmental pick and giving up on him after 1 training camp in favor of a 26 year old whose worse makes no sense from a process standpoint

I don't disagree with you guys but I'm guessing the Packers view it as Willis has more upside than Pratt and Clifford having a year in the system with the playbook gave him the edge over Pratt if they needed someone to play right away (knock on wood).

Pratt looked better but that might not matter to what the Packers want as their third option. Maybe they favor the older guy since their QB1 and QB2 don't have much experience and Pratt has none. Their main decisions that mattered was giving Love all the money and making Malik his backup for this upcoming year.

I guess I don't care much if he knows the system since he's legitimately terrible. If Clifford has to play meaningful snaps for us this year we're in a lot of trouble. Atleast with Pratt there's hope he'd turn into something more

Probably just liked Willis a lot and feel like Clifford would be more help winning assuming Love went down before Willis was worked into the offense.

Riley Patterson is available and seems like a major upgrade, what I can’t figure out is why do teams keep cutting him given his career 88% on a decent sample size

Watching some Willis stuff and I don't get it unless they're going to put in some Taysom Hill stuff. Not sure I've seen many other QBs who are more obviously built like a 3 down RB. Looks like Eddie George with smaller pads.

This line of thinking only makes sense if Clifford was a seasoned vet and not a 2nd year player himself

He only went 2/5 in the preseason but I agree with you that I'd rather take a shot on him than Joseph

He's got a noodle leg, which probably doesn't bode well for kicking in cold weather. Only 6 attempted 50-yard or more FG's in his career. That's as many as Crosby has attempted the last two seasons in half the amount of games. But sure, I'd take pretty much anyone who can reliably hit a chip shot FG over Carlson and Joseph at this point.

16 of 19 on 40-49
27 of 28 on 30-39

93 of 97 XP

I do worry about the cold weather but I’d take a relatively ‘automatic’ kicker and just only break the 50+ attempts in case of emergency.

Between Telfort and Glover making the 53 (apparently), does that lean towards Newman being gone?

I think Newman was pretty meh, but does cutting him now have a useful cap impact (on the margins anyway?)

Finally. Legitimately felt like Newman was on the team for like, 5-6 years.
