Yeah last year at my house Luke came to the draft party I think, and I imagine you all will be at my place for the NBA draft party.

Seems highly likely

I watched the e:60 piece, I agree with wichmae. Came off as super focused and hard working, not sure how you interpret that as weird.

I didn't say he wasn't hard working. Being high functioning autistic generally makes people super focused and hard working, I'm not arguing with you. He just seems weird in a Greinke sort of way. Nothing against his football skills or work ethic. Ahhhhh, never mind.

So your wife is a special needs teacher for autistic children? She, apparently, brought up the idea that Lacy may suffer from autism (based on watching an interview, I would assume)? Despite the profession of your wife, you refer to people like Greinke and Lacy as "weird"? Like you stated, nothing against them, of course.

I think your wife should find a different profession if she shares your views. If there is a person with your views "teaching" special needs children on a daily basis, she needs to be removed from her position. How the hell could a woman who actually cares about developmentally disabled people marry someone who posted the garbage you just posted? People like Greinke or Lacy are "weird"? What the hell do you say about the "weird" people who can't even function in normal society due to their disabilities?

I seriously hope you were lying about being married to a woman who teaches special needs children. My **** god are you insensitive to the "weird" people she teaches everyday. WTF?

My bile is offended by what you posted.

Yeah apparently he is super quiet. Like awkwardly quiet.

I saw people on here suggest to watch the E:60 so I just did on Youtube and that in no way made me feel good about him. He was a very awkward interview and generally came across as a weird guy. Greinke-ish.

I guess the way I took the interview was... He seemed like he had a loving hard working family that fell on hard times. He could have some emotional scars from losing everything he had and basically feeling like he was a charity case. That doesn't really promote self worth when you come from a proud hardworking family and needing to totally rely on people you don't know(beg for a place to stay). It's depressing and humbling. Instead of feeling bad every day living as a charity case situation, he chose to shut off his feelings. It was easier to be numb than constantly feel bad. People handle grief in different ways. Seems like he may have self esteem issues. He was obviosly embaressed of his situation. People with low self esteem can often develop issues of social anxiety or just feel uncomfortable telling people that they are homeless and poor.

Ill-yasova wasn't the person who started the use of the word weird. That was started by BF1&2, he was using the terminology that other people were using in this thread.

On top of that weird isn't in and of itself an insult. It just means different, or not quite normal.

I think you are going WAY overboard and attacking someone on a personal level that didn't say anything remotely close to what you are accusing him of saying.

100% this.

I had to read that twice to make sure it wasn't a joke that was going over my head or something else going on. One of the worst overreactions I've ever seen.

Settle down buddy. You're absolutely correct that weird was a bad term in this situation. Having two nephews, and knowing multiple other cases in the the autistic spectrum I never meant to offend. I only meant that there was something about him differing from the norm in a social sense. I can't confirm that Greinke or Lacy are on the autistic spectrum therefore I don't feel very guilty when using the term "weird". They may just be socially awkward and have no developmental problems at all. I am not a doctor and I can not diagnose an autistic case, I only meant that his behavior differed from a normal social behavior and may possibly be a product of autism.

I think I've made it pretty obvious in the course of my posts that I have no disrespect for people in the autistic spectrum. I love my nephews and I work with them on a regular basis to help teach them certain emotional reactions to situations that are not natural to people with their conditions. I've likely had more social interaction with children with that particular condition than anybody else on this board and I have no reason to defend myself to you. If you choose to take that first post into your own context that's your prerogative. The first post was only meant to state that there was something different about his behavior in a social sense, not meant to refer to any possible condition.

No matter what your opinion is of me, in the future please refrain from making any comments about my wife and her chosen profession. My wife is the most selfless, giving person I've ever met in my life and she deserves better.

I didn't go overboard at all and everyone can read the posts in this thread. He brought any criticism upon himself. Perhaps I should attend a classroom session with his wife where Illyasova could ask her students how they feel about being referred to as "weird." We could also invite the parents of the children in the class. If the children or parents do not care, I will happily admit I was in the wrong.

Let's all meet. Where do you live, Ill-yasova? It will be a transformative experience for all involved. Even the "weird" will be moved (as much as the weird can be moved, of course, those poor saps).

I had the exact opposite feeling. Came across as focused dedicated and incredibly hard working.

I'm not saying this in a mean way, he actually comes across as high functioning autistic. My wife is a special needs teacher for autistic children and she was the one who brought it up. Well, who cares if he can carry the football.

Like what specifically makes you think that? It just seems really out of left field, don't know what I'm not noticing.

A big sign was when he said he "stopped feeling emotions". Other than that it's just the general emotion and way he speaks. Very blunt honesty, lack of emotion, very focused. I get to be around quite a few autistic kids, I have two nephews who are autistic and I see other cases when I visit my wife at work. I can't stress this enough, I'm not saying he is autistic, he just has some similarities. Not a bad thing at all if he was, in some cases it can be beneficial.

OT, but I'm curious: how many nephews do you have total?

FWIW I don't think it's an insult to say he's high functioning autistic. I believe there are a lot of people who have undiagnosed autism spectrum disorders, and they will never be diagnosed, precisely because they are high functioning and there's no need to medicalize it.

5 nephews and the two who are autistic are brothers. They aren't severe cases, but it is amazing how 15 years ago no one probably even would have even known what it was. There are some tell tale signs in general and it was suspected from the time they were both two and now they're 4 and 5. It does need to be diagnosed in my opinion because it places some social limitations on children that can be hard to deal with and can lead to them being bullied. A lot of what people do in their lives is determined by how well they interact with others and autistic people have more trouble with this than others.

Alright. Sorry to sidetrack everything here guys.

True. I am the one in the wrong here. I do admit I'm "weird" and that people need to have a certain amount of patience when it comes to understanding my view. One could even call me "special."

Weird and special. That would be the best way to refer to me and my ilk. We love that.

In other, more pertinent news, this is almost certainly the most idiotic headline in MJS history:

Packers almost reluctantly select Alabama's Eddie Lacy as their back for the future

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/ ... 70531.html

Green Bay - It will rank as one of the most hesitant draft choices that the Green Bay Packers have ever made.

One way or another, running back Eddie Lacy of Alabama became the newest Packer on Friday night with the 61st pick in the second round of the National Football League draft.

As Lacy plummeted deeper and deeper, you could almost hear the cries from the Green Bay faithful across the globe beseeching general Ted Thompson to trade up and nab him.

Not only didn't Thompson aggressively pursue Lacy, he almost did the unthinkable by trading away the No. 55 choice to San Francisco for No. 61 and an additional sixth-round selection.

If the Packers were trying to run away from Lacy, the talented but brittle fourth-year junior, they couldn't do it. When nobody would take them off the hook, it was almost as if the Packers threw up their hands and turned in the Lacy card.

If he hadn't posted that his wife worked with special needs children, I would have ignored it. The posts I quoted above are unbelievably moronic. Maybe you guys know him. I don't know. That is some grade A level ignorance by a person who should know better.
