Even crazier than the Minnesota/Wisconsin game where the Gophers punter bobbled the punt and had it blocked.

At a banquet where the game was on and I walked away after MSU turned it over on downs. Holy hell I can't wait to see the finish when I get home.

This USC linebacker is going to be crushing a lot of tail tonight.

Lol at everyone who ripped on Vegas for favoring USC.

Sounds like Jerry Kill is hanging it up due to health issues.

Can't say I'm that surprised. The extreme stress and long hours of coaching college football can't be good for someone with underlying health concerns. Hope that nothing too serious happened to prompt this but stepping down midseason like this makes me suspect otherwise. :(

He admitted that he's basically been going against doctor's orders the past few years and he went to practice a few days ago shortly after suffering 2 seizures. He didn't want to quit but basically was forced to. Seemed to be fighting tooth and nail not to have to quit.

Yeah, he clearly must have had a recent episode of decompensation that was probably pretty significant; you usually don't just up and quit at midseason unless you have a very good reason (and I doubt the university forced him to quit, either).

I only saw a brief snippet of his presser, but it sounds like he stopped taking all of his medication because it was having an impact on his cognitive process (which is not uncommon with some of this anti-seizure meds), and I'm guessing his doctor told him that the long-term effects of coaching with an unregulated seizure disorder could have a catastrophic impact on his cognitive functioning. So he realized that he'd either keep coaching and accept the long term consequences, or quit his lifelong dream job and be there for his family in the long run. He tried the former until it got too much.

I don't really care about the Gopher program, but I feel terrible for him as a human being. I hope he finds fulfillment elsewhere in his life.

There were a lot of reports when he had his first public issue in 2012-2013 range, that he had made the necessary changes to get things in order, but that was scaling back from 20 hour days where he'd be flying around for recruits, looking at game film, etc. Of course, in the past and now he is saying that he's eventually pushed beyond those orders due to his drive for things. That and the issues with taking the meds if he stuck with the program messing up his cognitive process probably just became too much of opposing forces. He couldn't keep pushing the limit on the regimen and still stay "with it." Eventually he'd always break beyond what the doctor ordered to accomplish his dreams.

Good for him for getting out of there when he could. The one sad thing (and this is not an insult) is that he was legitimately despondent about what to do with his life. I'm sure he was a good dad, husband, etc. but literally all he knows is coaching/recruiting 15+ hours/day all year. This is why I was surprised at first that Harbaugh went back to college ball (looks like he asked for high assistant pay so that the assistants to do a lot of legwork). Urbs' family basically pushed him out of Florida for ignoring his family. Gary Andersen had to learn how to relax as he was having stress-related issues, Spurrier probably quit because he can't get by with playing 18 holes of golf every afternoon anymore.

From what I understand, Chryst has actually always been one that dials it back slightly. Out on the recruiting trail a lot less than many of the name guys (this was actually a bit of a concern about his recruiting).

I feel bad for Jerry - he seems very genuine and a good guy. It's too bad that he has to go out like this, but I agree that it seems like he has been fighting it for many years. It's not in his best interests to be out there coaching, not to mention doing the non-gameday responsibilities.

This is always the busiest week of the year for me, so I haven't been able to dive into this Jerry Kill thing completely. I would be utterly shocked if they didn't just make Claeys the full time head coach and promote Sawvel to defensive coordinator. Though, the offense has been so pedestrian under Limegrover that I almost wish they'd bring in a brand new coach. 2016's recruiting class is way too good (by our standards) to go that route though. If I were running the show, after the season I'd announce Claeys as the head coach going into 2016. Then hire your new A.D. in 2016 and see how Claeys does. If he does well, great. If he doesn't, allow the new A.D. to pick his own guy.

That's probably the most amount of mistakes you can make in less than 20 seconds.

Still think they finally take the ax this year though.
