The ESPN comments on that clayton story are just ridiculous.
Amazing how many people really know nothing about the sport they follow.

Everyone is missing the key piece to this deal.
Favre is finally reunited with Ahmad Carroll.

Hey, we didn't want him anyway. I'll take the free 3rd rounder.
Favre **** himself against dallas, and he **** himself against New York.
Good bye to Brett, his prima donna attitude, and his numerous playoff debacles.
All hail Aaron Rodgers.

I'd love to take a peek at the number of hits the Jets site got tonight and how many sales are made. I'm sure there are some very happy people in their front office at the moment $$.

Re: Favre traded to Jets (done deal)
If you look at this from the Jets side, it's really a great low risk trade
They get to let their young QB in Clemons to sit on the bench and learn vs being rushed before he was ready
Pennington just has no arm strength left
Even if Favre can't lead them to a playoff berth, at worst they are only out a 3rd round pick
If Brett leads them to a playoff berth, they are out a second round pick, but IMO that's worth it given how down the team has been for awhile.
The trade bring some excitement and national focus to a franchise that's been down in the dumps and completely over shadowed by the Giants success.
It's a jolt for the fans who had to have very low expectations given Pennington isn't any good and Clemons isn't ready.
They make money off Favre being on the team
Unless Brett just plays terrible and looks every bit his age, it's hard to see any downside in the move for the Jets since they only give up a high draft pick if the team does well and makes the playoffs, something their fans are starved to see.

Re: Favre traded to Jets (done deal)
I heard on 620 wtmj that if the Jets trade Favre to the Vikes they have to give the Packers three 1st round picks.
Come on Jets trade him to the Vikes.
Haha.

What a great resolution - we get the joy of rooting for Favre, watching him duel Tom Brady at least twice a year, all the while knowing the better he does, the more it helps the Packers. And it's a nice present to all those heart-on-their-sleeves Jets fans that entertain me every NFL draft. Every year I make it a point to watch the Jets' first round choice just to watch the histrionics.

Re: Favre traded to Jets (done deal)
You guys that are still bagging on Favre are just as classless as the people who are booing Rodgers.
And, any of you guys that have been slagging him for the past weeks (years) and now suddenly feel some emotion with this transition need to drop the charade.
In the end, he did what was best for the Packers team, Rodgers, and management. Get off you high horses, pretend saints.
Good luck in New York, Brett. I look forward to you playing out your contract on a team that cares about you.

Re: Favre traded to Jets (done deal)
Favre playing this year is the best thing that could happen to Rodgers. If Brett were retired in Mississippi every time Rodgers threw a pick or had a bad game everyone would be clamoring to bring back Brett. Now that's moot.
He makes his home debut against New England, that could be interesting.

The Jets site has a big banner to order a Favre jersey but it keeps crashing due to the crush of people trying to order them.

Re: Favre traded to Jets (done deal)
really, this is a sad day for WI sports.
we can now move forward, and this should have been done a long time ago, before our FO looked like the inept group of business people.
They were not focused on winning. They were not focused on the good of the team. They were focused on a decision they made in March, which has been proven to be bad for years, naming a starter when they have no experience. Ask the Bears how that turns out.
Our front office couldn't have handled this worse, and shows, no matter what awards Brett won them, that we are some of the most poorly run in the league.
I have no problem with the trade, and is hould have happened in early July, before Wisconsin got ran through the ringer.
Cheers to a sub .500 season

Re: Favre traded to Jets (done deal)
This will not be an easy transition for Favre. He missed a lot of the summer, he missed two weeks of Jets training camp, is going to play in a different offense with completely new players, might not be entirely committed to wanting to play football, plays in a very tough conference and division, is going to deal with a much tougher media in NY than the one in Green Bay, and is going to turn 39 very soon.
I hope the Jets the best so that the Packers can get a higher draft pick, but this is going to be a tough situation. Fortunatley for them, they are at worst only giving up a third round pick.

Re: Favre traded to Jets (done deal)
It is all gravy at this point. If Favre retires, we get nothing, now we probably get a 3rd rounder, and possibly anything up to a 1st.
